Planescape: info on Outlands border towns?

atom crash

First Post
For Xmas my GF was kind enough to buy me a metric buttload of Planescape material and I've been trying to absorb some of it in the past few weeks. I'm looking to introduce the characters in my 3.5 campaign (currently set in Green Ronin's Freeport) to the planes with a brief trip through Sigil and on to the border towns of the Outlands.

I've now got plenty of source material on Sigil, but the material on the border towns themselves is spotty.

My problem is that the Planescape box details three or four of the border towns (Automata, Ribcage, etc) and the Planewalker's Handbook gives just a blurb about each of the towns.
However, a trip to Faunel, Ecstacy or Sylvania would make more sense (the party is largely CG and their "tour guide" is an eladrin). I'd like to flesh out these places more fully.

Is there any source material for these towns that I can get my hands on? If I have to I'll make up my own stuff, but I'd love to use something in keeping with the setting if possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ah, welcome to the world of Planescape! The material you're looking for was best presented in A Player's Primer to the Outlands (which can still be gotten through RPG Now: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=1336& ). It has a writeup on each of the gate-towns. Nothing too specific, with good plot angles for each city. The Mimir CD was useless fluff to me, but I got a lot of mileage out of the small booklet.

Also, the gate-towns factored into a number of modules. The Great Modron March had something occur in Automata, Fires of Dis had a good section on Ribcage and the town for Arcadia (memory failing...), and both Harbinger House and Something Wild both had stopovers in one or two gate towns.

Best of luck!

I have The Great Modron March and Harbinger House among my collection. I'll have to delve deeper into those books. And I'll look for the Player's Primer to the the Outlands.

Thanks for the info.

And you can always just ask for information on PW forums as well, we tend to answer quickly. Krypts right about the fluff bits. I think in that section of PW there's actualyl a series of articles on each of the gatetowns.
