Planetouched Madness!

I'm A Banana

Potassium-Rich
It was commanded, and I commence! Here, I'll jot down my 'variant' planetouched ideas, for your reading and playing pleasure. Basically, I take the basic idea, and twist it a bit to give you a planetouched with a different kind of dimension than normal. Like a tiefer who's focus is in charm and lust. Or an earth genasi perhaps more related to plants than rock.

First: Aasimar!

Aasimar Variants

"Good Touched" Template
For those aasimars who aren't nessecarily descended from human stock, you can give them the following template. Only change the following:

* Type changes to Outsider (Good). Their old type and subtypes are removed. This grants them Darkvision with a range of 60 ft.
* +2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma
* Acid, Cold, Fire, and Electricity Resistance 5
* The spell-like ability of Light once per day, as a sorcerer of their hit dice
* +2 racial bonus to Listen and Spot.
* Level Adjustment +2. This is in addition to the level adjustment of the base creature.
* Paladin class favored.

Note that this doesn't reproduce the Aasimar in the MM if applied to a human. Aasimars created with this template thus have a slight edge over those created otherwise, and so have a slightly higher level adjustment.

High Aasimar
An Aasimar descended from a higher echelon of celestial, or with a bit more of the blood of angels running through their viens, may retain more powers of their ancestors than your typical aasimar. Their racial qualities are as follows:

* Medium-Sized. Base speed 30 ft.
* +2 Strength, +2 Wisdom, +2 Cha. High aasimar retain the wisdom and force of personality of their ancestors, and also retain the power of the angelic choirs.
* Acid, Cold, Fire, and Electricity Resistance 5. High aasimar are very resistant to the elements that trouble more mortal forms of life.
* The ability to cast daylight as a spell-like ability, once per day, as a sorcerer of their hit dice. High aasimar are infused with the radience of halos.
* +2 racial bonus to Listen and Spot checks. High aasimar remain very aware of their surroundings.
* Outsider (Good). High aasimar are considered outsiders, with the (Good) subtype. As such, they gain darkvision with a range of 60 ft.
* Level Adjustment +2. High aasimar are quite substantially more powerful than their more common kin.
* Favored Class: Paladin. High aasimar revel in the smiting of evil and the crusade for justice.

Low Aasimar
A low aasimar is even further removed from celestial descent, or perhaps desecnded from a weaker rank of celestial. Their racial qualities are as follows:

* Medium Sized. Base speed 30 ft.
* +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma. Low aasimar are quite intuitive, but suffer from the same cockiness and superiority complex as many genasi.
* The ability to cast Light as a spell-like ability, once per day, as a sorcerer of their hit dice. Low aasimar have some trace of the celestial radience that infused their ancestor.
* +2 racial bonus to Listen and Spot checks. Low aasimar are quite observant.
* Outsider (Good). Low aasimar are considered outsiders, with the Good subtype. This also grants them darkvision with a 60 ft. range.
* Level Adjustment +0.
* Favored Class: Cleric. Low aasimar feel the call of the gods, but they're often undecided as to which god they feel the call towards.

I got some more comin' up later. :)

KM, shouldn't the first template be level +1 to keep it in line? High is +2
I'd keep it at +2. If it was +1, there wouldn't be any reason to play a straight aasimar - you'd be much better off playing a human with that template. Thus the +2 ECL.

I would consider that a feature rather than a bug. Who needs a regular Aasimar when you can manufacture one from a human with the template? I'm for it. Having both types at +2 ECL leaves no reason not to be a high Aasimar though.

I would also figure out a way of substituting some of a races own abilities for those of the template....for instance a standard Aasimar while of human stock lacks the human feat and skill points. If I wanted to play a human Aasimar I'd just go with it by the book...the template is nice to add to another race if you want a dwarf-aasimar or whatever...and if you wanted to keep the ECL to +1 you could just give up a couple of existing racial abilities..
