Planetouched races in Dragon Magazine

ps3e will have all of these....

Mabybe not the Dragon version, but we'll have Afterburner's para- and quasi- genasi (you can find 2e stats for 'em, somewhere in a link in Planewalker), and my own version of the Lawtouched, the Chaostouched, the Neutraltouched, Half-Anarchs, Half-Axioms, and Half-Balanced. (hehe...unbalanced).

You can find Afterburner's para and quasi-gensai at http://users.erols.com/aburner/planescape/

He's updated them to 3e.

Regarding the para-genasi:

We got 6 of them because of the way they decided they were going to handle them. If you notice, each of the para-genasi are made of two of the elements combined. If I remember right, the old quasi-elementals were formed by the junctions of elemental planes with the positive and negative material planes.

The reason there are two 'extra' para-genasi is that they allowed the 'opposing' elements to mix as well as the normal ones:

Magma = Earth + Fire
Smoke = Fire + Air
Ice = Air + Water
Ooze = Water + Earth
Dust = Earth + Air
Steam = Fire + Water

All the possible combinations of the classic elements.

J

This is the way it's supposed to be;

Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Positive Energy, Negative Energy.

Quasielemntal Planes
Mineral = Positive + Earth
Lightning = Positive + Air
Radiance = Positive + Fire
Steam = Positive + Water
Dust = Negative + Earth
Vacuum = Negative + Air
Ash = Negative + Fire
Salt = Negative + Water

Paraelemental Planes
Smoke = Air + Fire
Ooze = Water + Earth
Ice = Water + Air
Magma = Fire + Earth

Edit: Imagine the four elements as four floating spheres, where one sphere touches it's neighbor, they combine to form a paraelemental plane. Floating in the center above the elemental planes is the sphere of Positive Energy, it combines with the four elements to form half of the quasielemental planes. The negative sphere floats below the elemental spheres and combines with each one to form the other half of the eight quasielemental planes.

Once again these aren't templates, so you can only have human planetouched. [sigh]
Yeah I too think it's dumb that if I'm a half-celestial elf, my children/grandchildren won't be aasimars. They'll just be normal elves. One thing we do in my campaign is treat it as a template, so you take all the normal racial abilities, and add the planetouched to it, adjusting their ecl accordingly. So a Drow Tiefling would be level +3.

This is the way it's supposed to be

Well, that was how it was in 2e with the paraelemental planes and the physical proximity the inner planes had in a spherical shape back then in the Ring.

3e MotP doesn't presuppose paraelemental planes, inasmuch as its redundant to have seperate planes for such -- if Celestia can have both celestial and axiomatic creatures wandering about, why can't the the inner planes have a few of their elementals coming from various locations...

What! Just because I am a hellspawn doesn't mean that all of my fellow Viennese are, too! :D

Yeah, that exists in German too - only with a slightly different usage (usually) and it's also not quite as common...

For example, the exact translation of weakling (Schwächling) has the same suffix - but the translations of the other examples don't...

And one must point out that Darkness is Austrian so doesn't speak real German ;):D :p hehehe
