One of my friend is on his last 50 days on a military assignment oversea. I would like to help a little in making time fly a bit faster...so I tough about playing a strategy game with him by e-mail. I just don't know what to try.
What I am trying to find would be something between tic-tac-toe and chess, preferably:

What I am trying to find would be something between tic-tac-toe and chess, preferably:
- With no random numbers
- Easy to describe your action in an e-mail and visualize the state of the game.
- With a duration of 35-45 turns...(a turn a day each side)
- No required access to third party web site or such (their firewall something block site you would not expect to be off limit...)
Any suggestions?
