Played D&D for the first time today

Cool game from the sounds of it. The way you talk about it you seem to have a good DM too. That's a boon.

Remember, have fun. If you play and you have fun and the people around you are also enjoying the game, then ignore whatever other people will say. You have found your way of playing the game. That's the coolest thing about this hobby, there are as many ways of playing as there are players. No one TRUE way.

Congratulations and welcome!

You may find that the hobby consumes all your free time, burns in your blood like a fever, grabs you like a pro wrestler and shakes you like an earthquake.

Just remember, when that happens- that's what time stop, remove disease, freedom of movement and levitate are for! :p :D

Overall, top stuff :) It's such a cool game. The freedom you have is awesome.

Anyways, that's about all I wanted to say.

Take care all :)
Glad to hear you had a positive experience! RPGs are a great hobby and having a good time in that initial game really is the trick to many years of enjoyment!

heheh, enjoy! my first few sessions were weird. in them, i was the only player, and the DM ran adventures just for me. this happened only once a year, for about three years, starting on my 13th birthday. :)

after that, another friend of mine noticed the 3 or 4 gaming books on my shelf, and asked if i could show him how to play. he and i wound up playing many times through high school, a few times a week much of the time in fact. whoever was the player for each session would control several PCs - and sometimes the DM would play a few PCs, since neither of us minded or thought it unfair.

i think i was at least, oh, 18 or 19 before i played in a situation with more than 1 player. :) the rest is history!

I played Dungeons and Dragons for the first time today. I've had the PHB since , like, Tuesday, but it feels like i've had it forever.

My game was cool, I participated in a club which meets weekly, and played in a game where orcs are basically trying to take over the world. We made a plan with the townspeople on how we would take on the orcs. Me and another guy hid behind barrels before surprising them with an attack. I managed to take a lot out of a hillgiant. Overall, good fun. Course, the war wages on until Saturday :(

I have to ask: So, what are you? (Race, Class, Level, etc.)

I'm a half-rc barbarian. I can't remember my exact stats, the GM has my sheet. However, I remember having +5 strength, weapon focus greatsword, 4th level. Erm. :/

Can't remember much more

Ah, the good old half-orc barbarian. Truly one of the more enjoyable classes to smash things with, especially with a two-handed weapon.

Remember that a two handed weapon allows you to x1.5 your strength on the damage roll so you'll be inflicting a +7 to damage. And of course power attack. So viscious with the right weapon...

Good luck with that whole survival thing though. Hill giants are pretty tough for 4th level characters.

My first session was played at a cousins house (he was the DM as well) close to 20 years ago...naturally I wasn't supposed to be playing, my mother belived it would lead me straight to hell. Fortunately my DM taught me a spell that charmed her into buying me $200 worth of TSR stuff, and we had great fun till the Black Leaf died...

:)

Anyway, welcome to the best hobby ever!
