Players: Do You Buy Your Own Miniatures?

I purchase and paint miniatures for my player's characters.

That is very cool! I'm impressed by the number of DMs who paint their players' figs.

Players who buy their own prepainted mini for use in my game are assured that the first week they use that mini their character will not die. Those who have a painted mini, get two weeks assurance.

We had a running joke in my game that as soon as your mini was painted, your character would die (prepainted ones didn't count). It didn't happen all the time, just enough that my players always feared the first week they had a painted mini...

I think that might be a universal fear among people who purchase minis for their games, players and DMs included. I recall prepping a game once a while back that never happened due to a series of scheduling mishaps. I had purchased a bunch of minis and created a site-specific map for that one. Of course, I eventually found other uses for everything.
