Players from Hell.

Yesterday, I was DM'ing an RPGA / Living Greyhawk home game for some people I didn't know all that well. During my introductory blather, one of the players asked if his character could spot any "drunken, rich-looking women" nearby. Horrific visions clouded my mind, as I imagined something similar to what Teflon Billy described.

Fortunately, it turned out the player was just looking for an easy mark on whom to use Pick Pock-- er, Sleight of Hand. He just chose to do so in a more role-playing fashion than I had expected. Whew!

Hey Teflon Billy-

What did your friend do once he heard about the scenario (ie., the friend that 'referred' rape boy)? I mean, he still had to work with the freak, right? Talk about uncomfortable and embarrassing.

I bristle at people who think "mature" means "abhorrent".

That is pretty disgusting. But too common, if you ask me. Even raping another player's character.

My wife ran a seminar at Gen Con aimed at discussing women and fandom, gaming, and all that. During the discussion, the topic came up about how many women's female characters had been raped in-game. My wife and a close friend of hers who attended were absolutely shocked at how many of them had that happen. I can't remember what exactly they reported but it was more than 25%. They kind of kicked themselves later because they didn't ask how many men's female characters had received the same treatment. We're guessing the difference would have been very interesting.

I can understand role-playing to be something you're not. But there are some places I'm not willing to go.

Well, I do not think I can top anybody here, and nobody drinks alcohol at the table… but, we had one guy join our group about 5 years ago back in 2E days and it was a pretty humorous story. We had a large group, but were always looking for another good player. We got contacted via email by a guy whose name begins with I. - I will call him Iman

Well, the first character Iman proposes he play in game is a kender paladin/thief based on the Batman. Never mind that it was Kalamar, where no kender exist, and it was 2E and paladins could not multi-class if you went by the book. The DM nixed that idea, as well as his idea of a lesbian swanmay ranger. So, Iman settled for a human male paladin. Oddly enough, this paladin’s name was Bwayne – As in B(ruce). Wayne. Well, in the first session, which was Saturday daytime, he worked out okay and did not do anything too strange in game, other than his name and initial character ideas.

However, some of the guys stay on to play other games at night. It was some sort of dark future type game. Maybe Shadowrun? But, his character proposal for this game was a former porn star/prostitute with “really large breasts” who broke out of prison by using her massive cleavage to lure/distract the guards.

To top it off, we had the rare female gamer in the group at the time (with her long time boyfriend)... and this guy stared at her so hard/intensely at the table that it made her uncomfortable. And, for this woman to complain, it would have taken a lot.

Needless to say, he did not last in our group.

The funny part was that a few months later, somebody else contacted us about joining the group. They said that they had recently moved in to the area and were having some trouble finding good gamers to join their group, and the guy specifically mentioned this strange fellow who wanted to play a kender paladin/thief based on the Batman...

Well, he was embarrassed, and frankly shocked. Apparently Rape Boy was some kind of quiet accountant.

they didn't have to interact too much though as our friend, aside from being a wicked RPG Freelancer did a lot of Freelance business writing, so it's not like he had an office next to the guy...he just came in for meetings and to drop stuff off :)

N's Ravenloft character was the first to meet a bad end. He picked a fight with a stranger on an ice floe who happened to be a were-sealion
I'm sorry, but this is one of the funniest-sounding out of context phrases I've heard of in awhile.

I want to know more about the head in the box...

Aaron.

Ask and ye shall recieve...

The Duke of Cros Mogmun had a deal with the Quarnoran Witchmen to "hide his life force", making him immortal.

His political rivals, a militant order owing it's fealty to the Church of the Neutrally aligned God of Death (Bale), didn't much cotton to this Duke slapping their God in the face and so cut him into pieces and scattered them by horse, ship and caravan to the far corners of the Earth.

The PC's found the "Talking Head" being kept in a box as a curiosity in an Ogre Chieftain's stronghold.

The Duke's head was a pain in the ass, but promised rich rewards if it was returned to Cros Mogmun, and to the ministrations of his Chamberlain (now Regent).

The Chamberlain/Regent however had been in on the plan since it's inception, and had since named the Militant Order as his Palace Guard.

That's just awesome man. Really cool stuff.

Hmm.. When I was 14-15, I was gaming with a group of close friends. All of the same age. Our DM, I'm not sure how (this was before the internet, and I know it wasn't through posting in FLGS, kept bringing "new" players to the game. In most cases, it was fine. There's two occasions, however...

-The old Porn Dude. That guy was in his late twenties. And he revealed very quickly that he made his living dubbing porno flicks. He had 50-60 VCRS hooked up together, and he dubbed porno films, selling the copies of movies he rented. And, well, his characters were weird as well. He lasted two sessions, probably because we expected him to bring some tapes the second session and he didn't. Hey, we were young.

-The other was the "weird couple". It was a couple years later, so we were 16-17. That was before White Wolf, which is probably why they were playing D&D and not V:TM. Their characters were elves, brother and sister. We were in FR. At some point, for some reason, our Mage cast an area Dispel Magic. They.. Became drow. We had just finished a rather extensive and deadly incursion in the Underdark. We slaughtered them No quarters, no questions. They called us immature and left. The DM, who I think taught the chick was hot, was mad at -us-. Weird.

And while I never had a problem with drunks or otherwise as players, I had a DM who was.. Under the influence of something. White powder. In the middle of a description, he stopped, and started counting initiative (that was in 2nd edition, when you counted 1, 2, 3 and people who had that initiative acted on their numbers). Now, nobody had -rolled- init, and we all looked at each other weirdly. He smiled embarrassingly, and called the session off and went to bed.
