Playing Gnolls

The lack of PP is probably because the gnolls are not a "mainline" PC race, while warforged are quite likely to be (i won't be surprised if the warforged PP's are seen again in eberron somewhere).

I really liked it. I actually like the "soul of the Hyena" part better than the "demon spawn of evil pack-butchery". I've never really been wowed by gnolls, but i could see myself playing one with some of what this article said in mind.

Gnolls have always been one of my favorite monster races. And even though I won't be GM'ing 4E anytime soon, I enjoyed the article a lot. I think I enjoyed the Gnolls presented in Classic Monster Revisited just a little bit more, but it's a close call.

The guys at wizards really should know how to tag articles, so that they could suggest other similar articles you could look at.

But looks fun; an all-gnoll campaign would be interesting.

I never liked Gnolls ... but these are awesome!

A Gnoll Fighter with the charge feats and Claw Feat (as long as the GM let you enchant them or give you gloves that enchant them) would be very cool.

Magic tattoo's, the downside is that while you may be able to upgrade them later on in power the basic enchantment is the same. Flaming claws will never be anything other then flaming claws.

I suppose if you wanted to temporarily disarm one you could clip his nails. Should keep him down for a few days till they grow back.... magical healing not included.

Meh. Gnolls have long been my favorite of the humanoid monsters, and this article didn't do anything for me. The fluff was pretty trite and been-there-done-that and mechanically it was bland as heck. Big snarly fangs, but a feat for claws when they're a tool-using race? Or fluff and feats that imply they hunt through trickery, but they hunt in packs and have Intimidate as a skill instead of bluff?

Not impressed.

I liked this article, it gave described both stereotypical gnolls and more "civilization-friendly" gnolls. I never really gave much thought to PC gnolls before, generally passing them over for other monstrous races, but this article actually does a good job on it.

This was generally an "Ecology" article, with some alternatives added for PCs. And it described more about the Eberron nation of Drooam which is also another good thing.

Intimidate is their version of diplomacy. They get intimidate as a racial skill because they use it so much. Few gnolls get a use for bluff, certainly not enough are expected to have Butcher’s Lure to make it a racial skill. They don't go into town and say "I'm a good guy gnoll. Come out to the fields and I'll show you a treasure laden dungeon!".
