So many people thinking of this feat in a non-tactical way. Everyone's first thought is that 'Cool. Now I can wield two handed weapons in one hand.' When in actuality the feat says that you can wield a weapon at one size category larger than yourself in one hand. So think about it for a moment. Let's say you take a Half-Giant, who already has Powerful Build and can use weapons at one size cat larger, and you give him Monkey Grip. A large Warhammer, which he would be wielding just from Powerful Build, deals 2d6 damage; Now let's say you apply this hypothetical situation to a Barb. Now you have a truly terrifying sight; A creature with easily greater than 20 strength wielding two incredibly powerful weapons entering a rage. I don't have the conversion tables on me at the moment to give the exact figures but it still ends up disgusting. When applied correctly this feat meshes incredibly well, but it takes a certain type of character. As for the flexibility of just taking Power Attack and saving yourself some feats; I wouldn't say that I would always choose the lengthier path described, but as I said there are several play styles that benefit so well from it that I found it astonishing to descry it right from the get go.
