Public service announcement:
The PCGen website
http://pcgen.sourceforge.net/

FYI: the lasher is NOT available under the SRD/OGL/d20 license and thus not in PCGen.

You can either a) code it yourself or b) get the dataset from the WotC-licensed distributor (and core PCGen design team) when they are finished at
http://www.codemonkeypublishing.com/ for $2.50 (see the "Checkout" button on the left for the pre-order page).

Thank you for your slightly OT time.

I suggest you re-read the errata.

I never suggested the lasher could not sneak attack.

I did suggest that the lasher would not receive the +2 flanking bonus to hit.

The errata does not say anything to the contrary.

To repeat:

The lasher MAY FLANK, meaning to be in the flanking position.

As written, only the person wielding the melee weapon gains the +2 bonus.

If they can flank then they get the +2.

Nothing says they dont.

... except the definition of Flanking.

The definition also says you can flank with a ranged weapon.

But the Lasher Class can flank with a Whip.

So the Lasher gets Flanking bonus with a Whip when Flanking.

I'm assuming you mean "can't".

But the Lasher Class can flank with a Whip.

Under certain very rigid circumstances, yes.

So the Lasher gets Flanking bonus with a Whip when Flanking.

Yes... but that doesn't happen very often.

A Lasher threatens with a whip. So he can be "the other guy" for a Flanking setup. However, his normal attacks are not melee attacks, so he isn't Flanking when he makes his normal attacks - no bonus, no Sneak Attack damage.

However, he makes AoOs within 5' "as if using a melee weapon". So he gets his bonus and Sneak Attack damage, if he makes an AoO against a target, while his ally threatens from directly opposite.

i bet he was counting the base attack bonus from being a bugbear.

So was I.

Bugbear: BAB +2
Rogue 1: BAB +0
Barbarian 2: BAB +2

Total: BAB +4

Insufficient.

Edit - Barabrian? Gah.

See, all these problems go away if you ban lashers.

See and I disagree.

The Lasher Threatens with his Whip.
Only Melee weapons can threaten.
So in all attack action situations you treat a Lasher with a whip as if it was a melee weapon.

You can not say that he threatens but does not get the bonuses for threatening as it only says that he threatens.

Otherwise it would read the he threatens but does not get the bonus for threatening.

Its ludicrous to say that it can only use its Sneak Attack on a AoO and no other attack action when flanking.

Your logic there is asinine.

In almost all instances the Lasher treats his Whip as a Melee weapon.

1)Does not draw AoO when threatened when using a Whip.
2)Threatens 5’ and can Make AoO with a Whip.
3)Can make Trip and Disarm attack actions with a Whip.
4)Can use Improved Trip and Improved Disarm feats with a Whip.
5)Can Flank when using a Whip.
6)Gets Sneak Attack damage when flanking with a Whip.

Looks to me that treat the Whip as a melee weapon AND a Range weapon, allowing any bonus that one or the other give.

And this is how I feel the spirit of the Class was made for.
