PlotStorming.com was founded to help writers brainstorm collaboratively and improve their writing. Since the beginning, the site has provided a daily writing prompt - often a short passage that could come from a larger work - designed to help inspire a writer who's having a rough day.
Over 230 prompts have been written and a lot of writers have had a lot of fun with some of the prompts. However, some prompts have languished, forlornly, they've waited like the kid picked last in grade school gym, but December will be their month!
For the December contest, you have to craft a story using any three prompts from the daily writing prompt archive. Choose wisely, the prompts must be woven and featured in the larger work. The prompts don't have to reappear exactly as they were written - names and wording can be modified, but they have to be recognizable.
Summary:
Format: short story
Genre: any
Prompts: three daily writing prompts of your choice
Word Count: 1500 to 3000 words
Deadline: December 27th
Prizes:
The winners of the December Contest will receive prizes - a belated holiday present from PlotStorming.com! The winner will get their choice of goodies from Amazon.com, with the total prize value depending upon their place:
1st - $50
2nd - $30
3rd - $20
Judging:
The judges for the contest will be the community. Creativity, originality, quality, and the ability to weave three prompts together to create a fantastic story will be the key. The community will nominate the individual that created the best piece of fiction.
If you're interested, please read the complete rules and unearth some ancient prompts. May the inspiration be with you...
Good luck!
