I think the show is a pretty pointed commentary on alien viruses that connect almost all of humanity through an electromagnetic field.

But also the conflicting human needs for connection, individuality, comfort, novelty, desire, hope, etc.

And there's the bad relationship angle: the Joined coming at Carol (and the others) with "I love you and will go to ridiculous lengths to make you happy, but I definitely want to change you."
 

By counting the people watching it, presumably.

I thought streaming services counted hours streamed, but what I was really wondering is if they’re measuring it per episode, for a single season or for a show in general.

It’s impressive whichever way it’s counted, but if the first 7 episodes were watched more in 6 weeks than 3 entire seasons of Ted Lasso in 5 years, that’s way more impressive.

Some streaming services (Netflix) publish hours streamed for some shows. All streaming services internally track every data point you can possibly imagine, and more. They know when you watched it, when you paused it, what IP address you were watching from, what device you used, everything.

I would imagine they are talking about peak viewership rather than total hours viewed.
