I helped put my best friend in 12th grade away for posession. If my kids did drugs, ever, and I caught them, they would go to boot camp damn fast. I found out that one person in my group used Marijuana. He was thrown (Literally, I'm a fairly big guy) out of my house and warned not to come near myself, my house, or my kids again. Unfortunately, he didn't have enough on him for me to call the police.

I was the leader of the group that got alcohol removed from my college campus resturaunt and got smoking banned anywhere on campus grounds. I was also involved in the group that made it illegal to smoke anywhere at all in public resturaunts, buildings, malls, etc in my city. I won't remain friends with anyone who smokes or does drugs. If I can, I'll get them put away where they can get some help.

So no, none of us drink or do drugs. If any of us do and I haven''t found out yet, it won't be pleasant.

Since you ignored the stern warning against going "political", I don't feel bad about saying you're an ass.

You physically attacked a man and would've had him imprisoned because of something he did outside your presence, harming no one? Did your grandfather beat up drinkers during Prohibition?

Would you feel justified beating up all of France? Smashing their wind bottles and pulling their cigarettes out of there mouths?

I'm glad you're there to fix everyone else's problems. Obviously it's impossible to use alcohol socially and responsibly, and all those people enjoying a glass of wine need your immediate intervention. Sigh.

To answer the poll, no, I've never played in a group that drank or smoked pot while playing, and I've always looked at "partying" RPGers as missing the point a bit -- but I can chalk it up to a difference in taste.

I certainly don't see anything wrong with having a beer or two while playing, and I can't imagine casual pot use would be much different. I don't understand the abject horror some people express over the use of tiny doses of mild drugs (e.g. a beer or two). I assume they've either never used some of these drugs (or seen them used), or they've never used them (or seen them used) except in destructive doses (e.g. doing tequila shots until puking).

I don't see the problem. Overindulgence is bad all around, but in moderation it's just fine.

I've never done drugs, or smoked. And I won't - ever. But that's a choice I've made for myself - and myself only. Others may do as they wish.
(BTW, I do drink, though.)

If someone can't role-play because of being under the influence, I won't play with him during these periods of time.
If they can play, though, more power to them. (Myself, I could play after drinking a bit. Sometimes even better than normal, I guess - depending on my previous mood.)
I won't let anyone smoke anything at my place and will not go to play at a place where there is smoking; I dislike the smell and especially the fact that it affixes itself to clothes.

Wait a sec. So was what I sad good or bad? That I despise people who think like that is bad? As an American I am offended by that kind of thinking. Sorry if I was out of line, well not really.

For the record, Rubeus' comments were just a description of how he handles the situation in his life and his game - and while I personally disagree with it, it saddens me that people feel the need to jump on him about it and flame him, especailly when he did not take to task anyone here who mentioned that they did smoke weed or drink. . .
