lol Hell Ya Rubeus!!!! LMAO that's AWESOME. And way to go Green Knight!!!
Hell no, you aren't alone in being drug free (as you can tell from the posts). I am 100% Hardcore Straight Edge (no drugs, no booze, no smoking) and I agree with the both of you all the way. I personally think you just found out bad news from your old gamers and found a trashy stoner group for the new gamers. Never give in to their pressure! La Resistance! :D

Ok I do pot, and I know a handful of other gamers who do. I wouldn't say the percentage was any bigger or smaller than non-gamers I know who do pot. None of them do anything 'harder' than pot. I have never participated in a game where people were stoned (nor do I think I would want to).

Alchohol is used by almost all the gamers I know, as we play in the students union, casual drinking during games is common. (But then I think it is among all activitys performed in English students unions. Most normally not casual, but excessive.)

I know a few gamers who smoke (I don't unless its pot), most of the gamers would rather spend the money they would spend on cigs on rp books or other more worth while things.

I haven't seen anyone do illegal drugs in my groups for at least ten years. It was one of those stages of teenage years where teens will do everything from paint thinner to EverClear. (Think 190 proof alcohol and you'll get the idea - it's actually illegal in several states.)

Since then, all of our groups have been mostly completely "dry" and "drug-free", or responsible alcohol use, and never to the detriment of playing the game.

Based on previous experiences, I will NEVER play in a game that has players drunk or high. It's like trying to make a statue out of warm water. :)

I don't do drugs or smoke; I've never been in a group that's done more than legal substances.

I strongly prefer groups that don't smoke - it gives me a bad headache. I suppose drinking too much could be a problem for gaming, but I've yet to see it happen - those who choose to drink usually have very little in my experience. (I don't really drink at all, never when gaming.)

Nothing harder than some sake and beer, wine on occasion. And not while I game even then. Most of the people I game with are even cleaner than that, I have one person I SUSPECT uses pot or similar, but no proof.

Something tells me if I were in any other city BUT Miami I'd be having much better luck. :(

Not exactly, I can think of only two person who play rpg and don't use pot in Rennes (France): myself and my first DM ; and I've tried pot once.

Though, none smoke or drink anything stronger than cider during play, it really alter gaming capacity too much.

RIT, by chance?

I think it's really sad that some people seem to think that a behavior performed by somebody else in the privacy of their own home is an excuse for violence. I certainly respect people who have criteria that friends or gamers must meet, but feel sad for anyone filled with so much hate and loathing that they use that criteria as an excuse to harm somebody else.

Myself, I was a gamer who never did drugs. Then I was a gamer who smoked pot on occasion. Then I was a gamer who used pot fairly heavily. Now I am a gamer who never does any drugs. Never have I been at any game where there were drugs and alcohol actually being used. What's the point? How can you possibly play if you can't think straight?

Mostly I have no idea if the people I game with are into anything that I'm not (legal or illegal). I don't ask, they haven't proffered.

I helped put my best friend in 12th grade away for posession.

Guess he's not your best friend anymore.

I was the leader of the group that got alcohol removed from my college campus resturaunt and got smoking banned anywhere on campus grounds. I was also involved in the group that made it illegal to smoke anywhere at all in public resturaunts, buildings, malls, etc in my city.

Remind me not to invite you to any parties.

More seriously I don't drink, smoke or do drugs myself.

None of my gaming friends do drugs, although some drink although not to excess and never if they have to drive home after the game.

I agree.

As far my group, all drink outside the game and several smoke pot, some occasionally, some more often.

In college we sometimes drank while playing and I feel like it detracted from the game. We start playing our first campaign in a few years this Saturday and I'm hoping that everyone wants to play sober, although I certainly don't care if someone has a beer with their food or something.
