While I've liked what I read about it so far, at first I'll stick to the SRD and gradually introduce parts of it -- the new DR system looks really sweet. If it works out, I'll start with buying the revised PHB.

I may be buying the new PHB unless it comes out that there are really only few changes. I bought the first print of 3e PHB, so I still have a load of errata in it, and it won't be bad to upgrade it.

Now that I think, perhaps I'd rather wait a little more, in case the new PHB's first print too is full of typos... :)

PS for Zappo!

Do you own both the Italian and English versions of the corebooks? I have been playing in English only, but I always wanted to know how the names of monsters, spells, equipment ecc. have been translated in Italian. I would like to make an Excel file with all the translations.

Well, I said "buy and convert immediately", but I'm sure that there will be a few house rules made. For example, I'm still not liking what I'm hearing about rangers, and I think the racial weapon familiarity sounds pretty lame.

Otherwise, I have nothing to complain about and I'm looking forward to the clarifications.

I'll probably download the SRD, and pick the changes that I think improve the game. The new damage resistance system, for instance, is completely ridiculous and un-heroic, IMO. Who ever heard of a warrior carrying four different weapons so he could kill all types of monsters? I can't think of a single example in fantasy litterature.

I like a lot of the tidbits that're being let out. But converting over would be a pain, so I'm sticking with my modified 3rd edition, although when 2.5 and Arcana Unearthed come out, I'll probably pick up AU and the Monster Manual.

I'll have to discuss it with our group. But overall, it took us quite some time to learn the rules as they are. We're just now really getting the hang of it, and "balance" issues haven't even been a problem yet.

We'll see. That will require everybody in the group to get the new PH, but some of them are couples, so they share. I think we'd be looking at 4 PHs, 3 DMGs and 3 MMs. That's $400.

And THEN I have to work out (minor) conversions for all the other books we have, whereas if we keep with 3.0e, I don't have to do any of that.

There really should be a 'buy, review and adopt if your group all agrees' option. Currently, I expect to purchase all three books, and barring any major stumbling blocks, adapt over to 3.5e. Everything I've seen so far has looked good to me, and I expect that we'll convert and move on.

We might even use our secondary campaign as a testing ground for the new ruleset, and use that as a control group to make our decisions from.

That's something of a question of perspective. There's quite a few examples in heroic literature and legend of creatures that are nigh invulnerable, with only a single weakpoint or vulnerability, that it takes the hero some time to discover or take advantage of.
