Luckily for me, summertime is my downtime from D&D -- I normally take the summers off completely from DMing D&D, so I can work on revisions and updates to my homebrew campaign. I will buy the books outright (might go through Amazon for that kickin' deal), and convert more or less immediately.

Wait and See

I voted wait and see....

I want to wait and see if they are really worth the cash.

I guess I will make a judgement (based upon the free skimming in the store) as to weather or not WOTC's intent was pure.

I think it will be obvious if it is a simple case of honest concern for the game and consideration of our wants and desires. I'm not sure that this will be a 100% thing, but if it seems genuine.....I'll probably go for it.

Likewise, it should be obvious if it is just a case of gee, let's see how much money can we squeeze out of our coustomer's market share. Once again I think this may not be a 100% thing, but if it is a case of a dressed up repackaging the old stuff with a sprinkling of "new" ideas I 'll most likely take advantage of the SRD stuff just to protest WOTC's greed.

My suspision is that it is most likely to be a little of both. I'll make my decision on which way I think they are leaning and go with it.

I voted Wait and See. It will depend partly on how my various groups feel about switching (no one seems gung-ho to switch at the moment), and on how quickly we see computer support for it. If computer support is quick and thorough, and if I can convince my players to buy new PHBs, I would probably switch my campaign at least.

I have to say the new MM is the most appealing to me so far.

Wait and see for me as well. My group may or may not want to convert. I'll most likely buy the PHB right up front to peruse and see what changes I like. If the group seems interested at that point then it'll be the DMG and possibly the MM, but I am not so sure about the MM. If I am reading most of the stuff right the changes in it are fairly cosmetic (I personally don't care one bit about splitting monsters over different pages) or tactical (I base tactics on my groups' ability rather than what some books tells me) so DR and the like I can get for free from the SRD.

There should be an option that say: "wait until one ENWorlder summarizes the changes and download it" because that´s what I´m going to do. :D Well I´m actually going to download the SRd as soon as it´s uploaded -well, no, as soon as Morrus says it´s uploaded- so that´s what I voted.

I think my gaming life depends too much on ENWorld. :)

I voted "wait and see". But really, this is just waiting and seeing if I can get anyone to buy my current three core book from me. Otherwise I can't afford the new books. That's the main sticking point with me. I can't see anyone wanting to buy the "old" 3E books after the new ones come out, but if I upgrade, I just won't need them anymore. And mine are still in great condition. However, I'll probably put them up for sale on my sale site (Buy My Stuff! >hint hint<), and just see what happens. I know I won't get the new books as soon as they come out, no matter what.

Where's the : Buy 1 copy of the revised rules for the DM and incorprate everything we like as house rules within 3E option?
