Thought I would post a poll on Monte Cook and Sean Reynolds' upcoming "Ghostwalk" undead city book.

I wanted to see if people were excited about the prospect of playing a ghost, the additional prestige classes (not sure what they are yet), and all the new monsters and spells.

Ghostwalk is supposed to function as a stand alone adventure or to be integrated into an ongoing campaign.

Stats: Hardcover, 224 pages, $34.95, June 2003 pub date. Includes a full color, fold-out poster map.

This seems like a quiet Monte Cook release which I didn't think was possible. What are your thoughts on it? Maybe with luck Monte will stop by and post some juicy info on the book....

If I screw up the poll, please forgive me, it is my first attempt with it.

As I've said before, the core concept as I understand it really holds no interest for me. The only reason I'm even going to flip through it is because of the names associated. If it's something other than my initial impression, I may get it. Otherwise, I'll chalk it up to a taste thing.

What Mercule said.

That said, I just got and loved SS, and i thought the idea had no interest for me there either.

I'll probably grab the book right away - the idea of playing a ghost is the main attraction, not the names. Ghost PCs sound a lot more reasonable than many of the Savage Species monster classes. And the fact that there is an entire book to it, there will hopefully be some more in depth discussion for the DM about running such a game.

The names of Cook and Reynolds just add an extra degree of confidence that the topic will be handled well.

I would be interested in seeing how playing an undead is handled and the special classes, etc that goes with it. However $35 is a lot for that, and since I am not really looking for a campaign setting or addition that is really all I would be getting out of it. That being said, it really depends on how much of the book is about playing undead and how much is the scenerio.

I couldn't possibly be less interested in the concept. I can't imagine ever wanting to play a ghost PC, and I certainly can't imagine allowing a player to do so IMC. So even though the authors are talented folks, I won't be buying this one.

Originally on the Daemonforge project I was really hyped about Skaukator, the city where all the restless spirits of the world go to wait out eternity until someone finds a way to reopen the gates of heaven and hell. Since my interest waned and other concerns took up my time, I think I'll get Ghostwalk to see something kinda like what I might have written.

I'm with Buttercup on this one... Ghost PC's really aren't high on my "to play" list, and chances are slim I'll be letting one in my campaign.

However, I'll take a (skeptical) look at it when it comes out. If it has some great (and I mean really great) NPC options in it then I may consider picking it up.
