POLL: What do you want to see in the Planar Handbook?

What do you want to see in the Planar Handbook

While I don't dislike Planescape entirely, I agree with many of Mercule's points about planar themes. I have a lot of Planescape products but I mostly just look at them as ideas for the outer planes, I still like to maintain a Prime-centric campaign and dislike both Sigil and Union.

The thing I like best about Planescape is the artwork and the monster books. I really like having all the demons and devils in one book, one page each with an illustration. But since that is neither likely nor approriate for a Player's Guide, I'd like to see more locations, spell keys and other neat effects that make the game play like someplace otherworldly, some related feats, and maybe a few races and prestige classes. I'm not opposed to new bse classes in a general sense but I don't think that anything planar based ought to be a 20-level class, so I wouldn't want to see any here.

I'd like to see things that don't fit the regular classifications of outsiders now. Stuff like the Baernoloths, the ram-looking guys who were kinda the progenitors of the daemons. The ancient Baatorians who are referenced as being frozen in the ice in the hells. The equivalent of the far realm, but for law, abstract creatures spanning multiple dimensions, incomprehensible to lesser beings. Actually, they'd look pretty much like pseudonaturals, since they'd be equally strange to a mortal viewpoint.

Frankly, I'd rather them leave that sort of stuff to the DM. I would prefer that PS not go the way of the "now I remember" Realms. ;)

Well, I can't stand Union, but I love Sigil. That said, my players consider Sigil like Casablanca in World War II. It's a neutral ground, a den of scum and villany, and most of the material I have certainly doesn't make it sound like a place someone would want to live, if they had better choices. My players like to visit Sigil, but they'd never want to live there full-time.

Union, on the other hand, just strikes me and my players as dumb. It's about as far from Epic as humanly possible, in my mind, and signifies everything that went wrong in the ELH (not the least of which was wasting valuable page space on a setting and poor adventure).

How about rules/guidelines governing movement and combat in variable-gravity planes, presented in a manner also applicable to aerial and aquatic environments? I thought 3D movement rules were supposed to be in the Minis Handbook, but alas, nothing.

I feel that there will likely be next to nothing on the setting. This is called a player's guide and the attempt seems to be to sell copies to everyone. The Manual of the Planes was great but it realy only sold to DMs. In order to sell 4x more copies they are likely to just make it stuff that players want. This means it will be yet more Feats, PrCs, Spells, Equipment, Magic Items and Races. In other words just another splat book.

As for our wishes we are only speculating since it is probably already entirely written. If not I want even less to do with it since it will be a shoddy rush job.

What the DM in me wants is some solid guidlines/rules on altering ELs/CRs and the rewards with the environmental conditions implied by planer traits.

Is this a what do I want or a what do I think they'll do.

I can almost garuntee....*ahem*

THIS WILL NOT BE THE PLANESCAPE CAMPAIGN SETTING

As much as I'd love to see it, it ain't happenin'.

And as for what will actually be in there: a lot of planes, a lot of planar races, a lot of planar PrC's, a lot of planar magic items, a lot of planar feats....I doubt the factions will get much face time at all (if any)...
