For the purposes of this poll, consider the term ELVES to mean a conglomeration of all the elves (except the drow) from the campaign settings of:

AL-QADIM
Birthright
Dark Sun
Dragonlance
Forgotten Realms
Greyhawk
Lanhkmar (if applicable)
Mystara
Oriental Adventures
Planescape
Ravenloft
Red Steel
Spelljammer

So I voted chaotic neutral, but I realy have to say that I think that hose definitions are APPALING definitions of alignment... but that does seem to be a hot topic today...

Oops, I voted neutral for our homebrew campaign. Neutral in that they are as varied as humanity.

In Dragonlance they were LG, NG and CG. I do not think that that averages out to NG however.

The Facts:

1. Elves are mammals.
2. Elves sing and dance ALL the time.
3. The purpose of the elf is to flip out and sing.

THOSE are the FACTS.

The next poll I do, on dwarves, I will leave out alignment and use general bent instead.

Because everyone has a different idea of what alignment is, there is no point in using alignment in a poll.

Chaotic Pointy - now, that's a neat alignment.
The Big, Bad, Barbarian is often Chaotic Pointy.

The general alignment of elves is chaotic good, and as our iconic kobold already pointed out... chaotic has nothing to do with being anti-social!

They are chaotic good unless you are an goblin, orc, kobold, drow, human, etc. If you fall into one of those categories then the elves generally kill you, your wife and children (wouldn't want the orcs to reproduce would we) ;)

Seriously they are chaotic overall, with the rare exception being non-chaotic.

*shrug*. I don't use, or even read, most published campaign settings. The ones I have seen put forth the general position of elves fairly plainly. I think you'll find that your poll doesn't glean much unexpected information.
