POLL: What specialist are you

Psyduck

First Post
Hi. I would use the poll option, but there are just too many specialists out there. I was curious about those who play wizards out there which ones do you play? A certain specialist, or just a wizard, and why?

I'm stuck on illusionists because of the vast amounts of things that can be "created" with their spells.

Evoker. As an Air Elemental Savant, I wanted to blow stuff up real good. Although in hindsight, maybe I should have been a Transmuter, there aren't as many high level Evocation spells that I want.
I also have an Abjurer, but he's only level 1 Wizard, with 6 levels of Fighter and 1 level of Bladesinger.

Abjurer. Not the most powerful speciality, but fits perfectly with the theme for the PC (protecting others). Currently 6th level abjurer, 2nd level Arcane Devotee (of Pelor).

When I do play a Mage I don't bother with specilisations, as I don't think they are worth it.
I stick with straight Wizard.

Abjurer, with the prohibited school of Enchantment. I like summoning big things, and the extra warding spells and boosted Abjuration DCs make Abjurers better than Conjurers at using the Planar Binding spells. Also, the prohibited schools are easier to deal with, so I don't have to forgo using some of my favorite spells. I also tend to like a play style which is more of a "Go on. Try to hit me." type rather than a "blast the enemy into oblivion, collateral damage be damned!" style.
