The positive one also villifies those that use it in the eyes of the moderates.

Can someone lock this thread as it has no point any longer?

Poll until you get the answers you want to see, and lock down polls and threads that you don't like?

Since the new one is actually more poorly constructed, has fewer response and is a duplicate topic, I think the new one is the one that is better locked, if one needs to be. ArthurQ -- you're turning into a rabid BoEF proponent. Give it a rest already!

What I find ironic (and amusing) is that if ArthurQ had not injected his rant and thereby breathed new life into the thread this thread would have probably died already.

Oh and I voted No. (in both polls)

I dont see how its poorly constructed. Everything, yes and nos are neutrally stated. The options here were very immature in their exectuion.

Its not about getting answers I want to see. I cant change what people say or think. But I do want to see something represented in a mature fasion, not as a joke or villifaction just to satisfy someones sick humor.

And No, I wont give it a rest. I'll never stop supporting something I belive in, regardless of how many other people dont see a need for it or dont like it.

I injected said rant cause i'm sick and tired of people turning this into a joke instead of taking it as a serious product. Then again there is always the overlooking of Wotc's hipocracy.

Of course it doesnt matter unless it happens to them, or a product they support. It wont be so funny then, now will it.

At what point does it occur to you that the fact that so many people are mocking it means it is a joke, whether you or AV wanted it to be or not?

What, opinions other than yours don't count?

You can't force folks to take it seriously. A good number of truly mature gamers, known and respected posters from ENworld, find this product the silliest thing since the emperor's new clothes.

But you just keep right on praisin' them fancy new threads.

Now I am truly interested to know why you believe so strongly in a product about imaginary sex.

With all of the issues in the world that a person can really get behind (rightly or wrongly) such as feeding the hungry, religious convictions, children's welfare, education, politics - why choose fantasy sex for your cause?

I ask this not mockingly but with sincere interest.

What I see is someone who has made the *choice* to look for immaturity and negativity in a poll, even though the choices presented most likely reflect the general opinions about the BoEF held by members in the community.

[sarcasm] And No, I wont give it a rest. I'll never stop mocking something I don't belive in, regardless of how many other people see a need for it or like it.
[/sarcasm]

I don't want to make it personal, but there are people here who disagree with the premise of the book and who are <gasp> permitted to express that disagreement.

In short we have just as much right to promote our negative opinions of the book as you have right to promote the things about the book you like. Making fun of the product is a valid expression of that opinion.

Hrm, too bad this is not a political board. Id be able to talk about the things I REALLY stand behind and support.
You're more then welcome to visit IRC however.

Hmmm... I smell a flame war brewing! The sad fact is, I just wanted to see how people felt when I created this poll. I even put aside my personal opinion on the product as to avoid biasing the thread, or being accused of starting a flame war. I was hoping that the people here were at least "mature" enough to discuss everything without resorting to flaming. I guess I was wrong.

Oh well, I'll get some of my opinions in before this thread is closed: :D

"BoEF is discusting and sick! It's elf-porn!"

"Anthony Valterra is a pervert! He's the leader of a Satanic cult!"

"BoEF is AV's attempt to undermine the morals of the gaming community, and thus bring about a New World Order (R)!"

Or on the other side of the debate

"WotC are a bunch of book burning Nazis(tm)!"

"I'm going to quit playing D&D altogether and switch to Storyteller to protest WotC pulling Valar's d20 license!"

"We need more SEX in gaming! How else will I be able to get laid?"

Whew! There I've said it! :p Now I guess we can close this thread!
