Yes, I'll buy it, and will even use part of it, since sex is a part of my games. Two of my players have significant others in & out of game and they since we're all in our very late 20s, we don't feel the need to PG the game down if something should happen. Sex doesn't dominate the game by any stretch of the imagination, but I've read the previews and there is information in here, I would like to have handy from time to time.

My campaigns have always been rated R/Mature, primarily for the violence and dramatic twists I throw in (one PC had his SO captured and tortured by a demon-possessed lord; lets just say she was NOT in the best condition when she was freed). This will round out the realism I try to include.

I do run a game where Evil is EVIL, but I also run a game where Good is powerful as well. Now that the Book of Exalted Deeds is out, I feel I can use the Book of Vile Darkness to full effect, since its balancing counterpoint is now available. The Book of Erotic Fantasy falls into the same category. I like to run a game that can make players twitch, pause and think about the ramifications of their actions, and on occassion, pop up in their dreams afterwards. :)

Because of the official D&D logo, Wizards has to approve all of Kenzer's books before they can go to press. The Villain Design Handbook came out while the Book of Vile Darkness was in major hype phase and about to be released. Wizards made Kenzer remove a flaws section of the book that made the anti-feats (a subject of frequent criticism of the book) work much better.

Later, Kenzer was going to come out with the Complete Arms and Equipment Guide (can't remember exact title) for Kalamar when Wizard's A&EG book was also slated. Wizards declined enough of the book that Kenzer had to abandon the entire project.

Kenzer can't explain the details behind these choices by Wizards, so we don't know for sure, but apparently some folks at Wizards have been really upset with the Kalamar license for some reason or another and there has been speculation that these two products were intentionally sabotaged because they competed with major Wizards products being released around the same time.

This is a crying shame; Kenzer has repeatedly produced quality products and illustrated the strengths inherent in the OGL concept. Underminding Kenzer is short-sighted, and in my opinion, self destructive for WotC.

ArthurQ, I can agree on 'more comprehensive', but are the poll options here really that negative?

There's five options total. Two are positive, of which one moderately and one extremely. By the same token, two are negative, of which one moderately and one extremely. The last one is neutral. Over all, the poll seems quite neutral and balanced to me.

Ah well...

The positive one also villifies those that use it in the eyes of the moderates.

Can someone lock this thread as it has no point any longer?

I'll get it eventually,no rush, because I think it looks interesting, I like this kind of stuff and there are a few spells I've seen from the previews that I think could be useful.

:)

Since the new one is actually more poorly constructed, has fewer response and is a duplicate topic, I think the new one is the one that is better locked, if one needs to be. ArthurQ -- you're turning into a rabid BoEF proponent. Give it a rest already!

Except Kenzer never published anything under the OGL or d20 STL.

They have bought the D&D license, and publish under this D&D License. Which, for all intent and purpose, is the same as WotC uses for itself (well, for WotC, it's not a license, of course).
