so you OD&D fanatics out there. Would you play in an OD&D(1974) campaign if you could find enough players. (20 being optimal of course).

Wow... I wish I HAD the original 1974 version. I didn't start playing until the blue-book version in 1977. :( So, I don't have enough info to vote, but I will comment...

I'd play it now, even though I didn't at the time... I think it'd be cool to have the chance to play the original. :)

Shoot, I've still got all the booklets and sometimes go back to the original stuff for ideas or to just jumpstart my "fun" quotient. But I can't even find anyone who wants to play 1st ed AD&D much less OD&D....:(

That's really sad, isn't it? That d20 has become so prolific that you can't interest anyone in going back to the origins.

I almost was able to get into a 1st edition game on another forum site, but I think the idea died. That was, hands down, my favourite version of the game. I'm currently collecting the original versions of the AD&D hardcovers (lizard idol PHB and efreet DMG... got the original MM and Deities and Demigods), plus looking for modules and such, all on ebay.

I've seen the OD&D books on there over the past couple of weeks too... it's soooo tempting to pick them up.

Sure I'd play it. Faster than I would play 2e, that's for sure. But honestly, as much as I love Gygax, I feel as if the current stuff is superior. It is better written. It is better tested. It is better recieved. Sure, the early Gygax stuff has charm out the ying-yang but I doubt it holds up as well in campaign style. There is not as much room for flexibility.

Sure. Why not? I'm up for playing any game, and OD&D, while I have only played it a few times, has a simplicity and openness that other RPGs don't have anymore. I'd jump at the chance to play it with others who could appreciate it.

I'd love to play it. I'd love to play *any* version of D&D, from OD&D all the way to 3.$, and anything in between.

Siiiiiighhh...but finding a group, *there's* the rub. :(

I voted #4, but I don't think I'd actually use Swords & Spells and I'd only use selected bits from TSR and supplements 2-4. I might also use some of the stuff from Judges Guild's Ready Ref Sheets.
