[Poly] World War II Mini-Game

I'd take a good day-after-tomorrow cybernetics game.

Six Million Dollar Man meets the Matrix.

Because you should always end every pitch with the phrase "...meets the Matrix."

"No. For starters, it's all infantry. We'll get around to tanks and vehicles in a follow-up article." Mr. Mona

I don't wish to sound like a toad or anything, but any idea on when that would be (i.e. three issues down the road, etc)? I'm still waiting to see a follow-up on Pulp Heroes *drools at the thought of a Crime-Fighter Prestige Class*.

Though i have to admit that Gene-Tech wasn't as strong as Mecha Crusade.

To be fair, you have to remember that GeneTech was originally the fourth campaign setting from the d20 Modern corebook, and was fleshed out a little more from that. As it stands, when it comes to the presented material, it's about as strong as the other three from the book, and somewhat more focused to boot.

I don't want to say before I have the article in hand and signed contracts. Doing that before all the t's were crossed might, for instance, lead Star Wars RPG fans to think content for their game would be appearing far earlier than the corporate world would actually allow it to happen.

Wouldn't want that.

Actually, we've got a little surprise up our sleeve that will make it MUCH easier for me to run support material and other articles (they seldom fit what with the huge Mini-Games). You'll have to wait to see what that surprise is, but I'm hoping to run a couple Pulp Heroes articles in the near future (like, say, within the next four issues or so).

My d20 mini game wishlist!

Ok, I'm definitely up for giving my wish list for d20 mini-games. It's not a big list but that's because I already got Shadow of the Spider moon and Mecha Crusade. (BTW, Wizards of the Coast should really consider expanding Mecha Crusade into a full campaign setting. That game rocks! I'd even take a one shot hardcover.)

Anyway...

1. Steampunk - I need this for my Spelljammer Gone Wild cosmology (steampunk spelljammer). Erik, you should try to get Steve Kenson to make this one. His Dragon #277 article, The Age of Steam, was one of favourite Dragn articles ever but I want more. More detail, prestige classes, feats, skills, weapons, etc. And I'm more for the Exploration theme for adventure style.

2. Dark Matter - I never bought the Alernity book. Talked myself out of it. But if it came back as a d20 Modern mini-game then I 'd buy it - just to be able to add it together with Urban Arcana.

3. d20 Toonage - Gotta love cartoon roleplaying!

4. Star*Drive - Star*Drive I did buy and loved every minute of it. Mayhaps you could limit it to a Verge mini-game or Kill the Klicks mini-game.

5. Buck Rogers - I was a big fan of TSRs Buck Rogers 25th Century game and I'd love to see that again.

6. d20 Spythriller - Need something more compatible with d20 Modern. Spycraft didn't do it for me. Need this for something I'm working on called the Phoenix Project.

7. Updated Alternity stuff - Need expanded d20 FX and Tangants rules for d20 Modern. (Less like D&D for FX, more like the Alternity stuff.)

Ok, it wasn't a short list after all.

Cheers!

Hmmm...

You don't think he means Polyhedron is splitting off from Dungeon, do you?

Hmmm....

Or maybe the Polyhedron website will offer ongoing support for the mini-games?

Hmmm...

"You don't think he means Polyhedron is splitting off from Dungeon, do you?"

Oh man, that would be great! I'd buy a subscription to that in a heart beat!

"Or maybe the Polyhedron website will offer ongoing support for the mini-games?"

Not a bad idea either...:)

Speak for yourself, I love the idea of getting a WWII/war game in my Poly!

I honestly think you need to somehow offer a vote of some kind in the future for what kind of mini-campaigns we would like to see in future issues of Polyhedron. I say this because I, personally, could care less about ww2, or role-playing in it, and I know some will like it, but to me that is just a waste of good pages that could be used for something better.

We know our history, there are other games out there that do wars and recon, and for those who will like it, all the better for them, but I think it stinks. This is the first issue I will not purchase, unless you have something else to offer, like the missing Star Wars adventures that have been promised to us who like that game, or perhaps you could come up with adventures for other mini-games you have created, or something good like that. Your last issue was great with the Cthulu adventure, about time I might add, and it would be cool to see an adventure for something like your Omega World setting, but for this next issue you won't get my 8 dollars unless something spectacular is coming along with it.

Maybe I'm easy, but I think it's great that Dungeon/Poly are in one book. I find the value of that combo much more than each individually. I don't readily see why people don't like the Dungeon material. I think it's great if you have time to write all your own quaility mods, but the ideas that you can get from Dungeon alone....I mean you can buy 2 medium mods, or a whole year of Dungeon/Poly at the same price. What's not to like.

That said, the ongoing support idea for mini-games is very good.Very. Even on a web-site where the production cost is low (?) would be nice follow-on info.

I reiterate my desire to see an "extra" non-D&D adventure in each issue (or on the web site). I may not be playing Genetech or Pulp Heroes but good adventures are welcome in any setting, AFAIC.

Lest I be too far from the thread's original intent....the WWII mini-game is a GREAT IDEA!
