[Polyhedron] The Bimonthly "What's the Next Minigame?" Thread

There's no possible way that anyone will guess the next mini-game. It's VERY "out there." By far the biggest departure we've done so far, and possibly the biggest departure I've seen yet so far as d20 and the OGL are concerned. Every year, I'd like to do one game that "stirs the pot" a little in terms of genre. The d20 System is incredibly versatile, and mixing up genres is one way to prove that while providing something people haven't seen before.

You haven't seen the next mini-game before.

More on that when I've got a final name for it and when we have some visuals to show you. The game's not going to work without kick-ass visuals.

After that we'll interrupt the normal flow (mini-game/no mini-game/mini-game) with a special surprise that ties into some ads that have run in Dragon and Dungeon recently. No more on that until later. I don't want the Paizo Pirates cutting out my tongue.

After _that_ it looks like two (at least) d20 Modern games in a row (with a grab-bag small issue between them). I've got three or four other games percolating beyond that, but they're too far off to even hint about, yet.

Oh! Since the Godlike cartoon ended last issue, the one we're finishing now has a new cartoon-- "Downer," by art director Kyle Hunter, is the life story of a slacker drow dungeon guard. It's suitably "Polyhedron" for my tastes, and I think you guys are going to really dig it.

It's d20 Planet of the apes! Isn't it?!:D

No one's guessed it yet, but a couple of you have guessed close relatives. I really don't want to say more, lest I be accused of teasing.

Tease, tease.

I can only dream that it would be a William Burroughs d20--but Erik did mention that his work would make a great setting in an editorial a couple of issues back. Or barring that, maybe Videodrome d20--long live the new flesh!

OK, purely guessing..
Funny Animal d20; playing semi-anthro animals ala Watership Down, The Secret of Nihm, etc. AKA Bunnies and Burrows d20. Which, btw, would kick serious butt :)

D20 Bunnies and Burrows. Or, more technically, D20 roleplaying in the world of normal, non-mundane, non-magical (but intelligent) animals.

Whoops, missed Wayne's post above mine. Beat me to it. :(

I'm going to take a stab at this and say Monster Island - Giant Monster Roleplaying, ala Godzilla, King Kong, Rodan, et al.

"You want Power Attack!?! I'll give you Power Attack!"

Oh man, that's my favorite guess yet. Watch it won't be that. :(

I'm almost certain I know what it is. I'd be acting on inside information if I told, though. I think it's fair to say that if I'm right, it's one of the less serious and more amusing d20 games around. :D

Erik, the d20 Giant Monster Battle is a brilliant idea for a mini-game!
