[Polyhedron] The Bimonthly "What's the Next Minigame?" Thread

Rodney, excellent articles! Some really fun characters to use in there.

Erik, you folks keep up the great work. :)

Oh, and more starship articles/deckplans please! Those are useful for so much more than just Star Wars! (Dragonstar, Babylon 5, d20 Future, etc...) :D

Personally, it's about time we get some maps for Star Wars (since the last Star Wars Gamer) and d20 Modern (a full-page treatment rather than a small "corner space"). I'm also hoping that would allow one side of the poster maps for Poly as well for Dungeon.

The two articles by Moridin are great. I hope that dejected Star Wars Gamers would check this issue out for the deckplan map of a medium-class transport (complete with enough space to park a couple of Tiny ships and speeders) as well as the Jensaarai Defender prestige class.

And maybe if you ask him nicely, Moridin could provide campaign notes to adapt the Kage group to Star Wars.

P.S. I have to admit, the new monthly issue format feels different, now that it is only 100 pages.

Starships of the Galaxy and Global Positioning; Four words. CHRISTOPHER WEST IS DA MAN!!! I love his maps and I was not disappointed here.

Aw, shucks...you're making me blush, here. :) Thanks for the high praise!

Edit: That's five words, though. ;)

The jail map was awesome but I was hoping for a bigger one, PLEASE. Is there any chance that CW can do two GP maps a issue?

Oh, most definitely. :D

I agree. If I wanted to read a comic, I would pick up a real comic to read rather then a poorly done piece of crap like Downer. I felt like it was total waste of space, space which could have been put to better use with another Modern article or more maps

I think there's room for comics like Downer in the magazine...I'm just not sure Downer itself has caught my interest with this first strip. I'm going to reserve judgement for now and see if further installments give the characters more depth and make me more interested in what happens to them.

I'm probably biased as a full-fledged Nodwick fanboy, but I'd love to see more of Aaron Williams' work in the magazine. His new PS238 title is spectacular, and could fit nicely within Polyhedron's more modern atmosphere. Downer, which seems to have a fantasy dungeon exploration theme, would feel much more at home on the other side of the magazine.

You know, about a year and a half ago, I tried to pitch this concept as a FUDGE supplement. I was told it was too obscure.

Too obscure for FUDGE, but not for D20?

Wow.
Looking forward to it.

I'm pretty sure it is too obscure for 98% of the people doing d20 today. Fortunately (for those who like ecclectic gaming), it's not too obscure for me. I wish other companies were taking the type of chances we take routinely, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. In some ways, it's a lot easier for a magazine to take chances than it is for a traditional publisher.

Erik, I for one love the idea because 1) I am nostalgiac about old Hanna-Barbera cartoons and 2) my primary RPG audience are my nephews and they still watch those shows!

Just for everyone's reference, I got my copy of Dungeon/Polyhedron in the mail today.

EDIT: Oh, duh, I'm a scatterbrain. The next minigame will be a Toon crimefighting game. From the editorial:

Humm...I wonder if this is a sign for me to dust off Hampire: the Masked Ace Raid? Its an article that appeared in one of the early Pyramid magazine issues. Its a parody of Vampire useing SJGs TOON system.

I just saw the latest mag and bought it, and for $6.99 and 100 pages compared to the huge size of the last mags I think the 6.99 price is one dollar too high for the size of the newest magazines. You should really consider lowering the price by a buck for the lowered size of what you are offering.

That said, I liked the issue a lot. I didn't care for the comic either, but I never did like any of the comics and I would rather see the comics from Dragon also make their way into Dugeon, they are funnier.

Your articles were awesome in this issue, especially your adventure path adventure. Quite cool. I also liked the Star Wars article, much needed stuff. Thank you.

If you are taking suggestions for mini-game articles, one I was thinking of as I read the first page is making a mini-game of Blood Bowl football action based off the Games Workshop game. Now that would be a kick butt sports mini-game worth playing. Change the name, I don't care, but it would rock.
