[Polyhedron] The Bimonthly "What's the Next Minigame?" Thread

Erik;

I don't know if you read this thread any longer, but since SW will be a bi-monthly thing, are you planning on anything involving Call of Cthulhu? I bought the one issue of Dungeon just for the Delta Green game (which I just ran last weekend and had a blast with!) and would actually get a subscription if there were plans for a frequent CoC article. Otherwise I will just continue to browse with hope at my local B&N.

Thank You.

Shaper,

I'd like to publish more Call of Cthulhu stuff. I don't presently have anything scheduled, but I'm certainly not against it (I might even say I'm inclined _toward_ it). If we do it again I'll be sure to let people know well in advance.

Can any one write/submit items for Poly? I mean if I was to have something perhaps that was written for CoC could I submit it, or would I have to have Chaosium permission first?

Just curious, as I have the gears turning now that I am finishing up my Demon of Catheway project.

-Regards

EDIT: I read somewhere that Monte (althought he would love to) will not be writing anything else for CoC... I say a mass email is in order. Maybe I can convince him at GenCon ;)

I am so looking forward to this. I love his work:) Can you tell us what the map(s) will be in the upcoming issues?

Thanks, Kenpo Wolf! I'm glad you enjoy my work. :) If you're a subscriber, you may have already seen the modern map in issue #98, but if not: it's a Municipal Police Station...a single-story building with a jail, interrogation rooms, detective offices, small motor pool, etc.

Considering the frequency with which many modern heroes can end up in the slammer, I though it would be a particularly useful map to kick off this new Global Positioning feature.

I don't know if Erik wants me giving hints towards upcoming map features, so I'll leave that to him. I think I can safely tell you, though, that future issues will present an even larger dose of Global Positioning. :)

You can also look forward to a regular (bi-monthly) helping of new starships...and that's all just on the Poly side. Dungeon has invited me to do monthly Maps of Mystery, as well. Those will start showing up next issue, I believe.

The article is about a group of modern assassins that work for the Yakuza and are loosely based on Japanese warrior archetypes -- the ninja, the samurai, the shogun, etc.
Just wanted to say that I thought the article was great! Interesting characters, good artwork (mostly) and very adaptable for a number of different uses by enterprising GMs.

Kudos!

Thanks man! I'm glad you liked it. I'd be interested in seeing what other people thought of that and the "I, Jensaarai" article I wrote, so please post any feedback here!

One of the things I (and Erik) wanted to do was present something that would fit many styles of d20 Modern games. I think that came out well.

I thought the "I, Jensaarai" article and the "Kage" article were both very good. The artwork for the "Kage" article was good, but the drawings of the characters didn't really match the descriptive text of the article.

The next minigame will be a Toon crimefighting game. From the editorial:

...Hijinx is the name of our next Mini-Game, a rock-and-roll cartoon crime-solving extravaganza in the spirit of Jabberjaw, Josie and the Pussycats, and the Gorillaz. No kidding.

TOONAGE! Cool, cool, cool.

Way to go Erik and gang. Hmm, Erik Mona and the staff of Dungeon/Poly as toon characters.

Cheers!

With a couple exceptions, I thought this was a great issue. Here are my thoughts on it, good and bad;

The Kage; Awesome article. I will definitely be using them in a future campaign.

I, Jensaarai; Great article. Although I don't play SW, I can easily convert some of the material to my StarGate campaign.

Starships of the Galaxy and Global Positioning; Four words. CHRISTOPHER WEST IS DA MAN!!! I love his maps and I was not disappointed here. The jail map was awesome but I was hoping for a bigger one, PLEASE. Is there any chance that CW can do two GP maps a issue?

Into the Bright Desert; Good article but I would have preferred to see it in the Dragon mag rather then in Polyhedron. I know I'm probably 'beating a dead horse' about this but I wish the D&D elements would be restricted to the Dragon and Dungeon mags

Really not sure about Downer. I didn't like it at all

I agree. If I wanted to read a comic, I would pick up a real comic to read rather then a poorly done piece of crap like Downer. I felt like it was total waste of space, space which could have been put to better use with another Modern article or more maps
