Polymorph Any Object as Ridiculous as it Sounds?

Found it.

A spell of the polymorph subschool changes the target's form from one shape to another. Unless stated otherwise in the spell's description, the target of a polymorph spell takes on all the statistics and special abilities of an average member of the new form in place of its own...

...For the purpose of adjudicating effects that apply to polymorph spells, any spell whose effect is based on either alter self or polymorph should be considered to have the polymorph subschool.

I guess I'll stick to the standard rebuild rules.

Polymorph is a complex and nasty spell. I think that it would be a happier world if they rewrote it to allow enhancment bonuses from a menu. Let it add speed and/or strength and/or senses. This would make the spell a flavorful and fun buff spell but would make the base statistics of the character continue to matter.

Oogh. As if it didn't slow the game down enough already....
