Polymorph Self and Lightning Immunity

I am playing a cleric/sorcerer and have just obtained a wand of polymorph self.

What can I polymorph into that will make me immune to the breath weapon of a blue dragon?

Nothing. When you polymorph, you only gain natural abilities like modes of travel and what not, not extraordinary, supernatural or spell-like ones. Nor do you gain any special abilities or special qualities unless they are mundane in nature. So if you polymorphed into a spider, you could climb a wall or even spin a web, but if you polymorphed into a white dragon, you'd not gain the ice walk ability. You won't gain DR, SR, regeneration, fast healing or any sort of immunity. That would make polymorph even more powerful than it already is...

If you want to be "immune" to lightning, cast Protection from Elements (electricity). It'll give you 12 points of protection per level.

Sounds like a rules-related thread -- I'll slide it over to the forum where it will get the most loving attention and care...

Natural abilities are things that creatures can do in the real world, at least theoretically. Birds can fly, spiders can spin webs, ants can walk up walls.

I don't think any real-world creature can take a direct lightning strike without injury, so you're out of luck. ;)

Cast Protection from Electricity before you Polymorph. You can ignore 12 points of electrical damage per level, even all at once, before it is discharged.

Hope the blue dragon doesn't know Dispel Magic.
