Polymorph Self and Lightning Immunity

If you polymorph into Pikachu (or a blue dragon, or anything widely known to be immune to lightning), the blue dragon will probably not waste its breath weapon on you. It doesn't know you're not really immune, see ?

Well done that man! It would be best if the dragon didn't see you change, but if it sees something that it knows can't harmed by electricity, it probably won't bother breathing electricity at it.

The trick is to pick something that is well-known for it's resistance to lightning.

Eels aren't immune to lightning, just resistant. Belive me, if an eel got hit by a lightning bolt, it would probably be as fried as most of us. It has enough elctricity resistance to resist its own shock, but not much more.

This whole argument is kind of silly though. If you want to be resistant/immune to lightning there are plenty of spells available to do just that. Polymorphing is not intended for that purpose. Just cast protection from elements on yourself. I can guarantee that that will protect you from at least one breath wepon attack, if not 2 or 3.

So an electric eel would have a natural electricity resistance 2 or something...not very useful.

To "fool" the dragon into thinking you are immune to lightning, the best choice would probably be a dragon...of course, then the wyrm may see you as the greatest threat and attack you to the exclusion of other characters...

I think the best advice so far has been Protection from Elements...Assuming you are a 10th level caster, you will be virtually immune to the breath from even a great wyrm assuming it rolls average damage (120 hp of protection against 108 points of damage on average). If the dragon breathes on you once and sees that you are completely undamaged, it is unlikely to waste a second shot on you.

No kidding, really?!:eek::rolleyes:

I've said that already. Go back & read my last post, & you'll see why it's there.

Kind of silly, no it's very silly. And I agree to just buff yourself with other spells that are intended for the purpose of elemental Res/Protection.

My suggestion was not ment to be useful, it was only ment to answer the question of "are there any animals with a natural resistance to elec. ?".

Indeed, fooling a Dragon would not a wise plan. Again I agree, go with the protection spells.
