Portrait of an elven weapon master

Hello all. Just thought I'd post the link to a portrait of Alariel, an elven kensai I had been playing for some 8+ years now. She was retired back near the end of 2nd edition, but she is being brought out of retirement with the advent of the Epic Level Handbook.

The portrait was drawn by a friend of mine for the MMORPG Shadowbane, where I am planning to port over Alariel. She's managed to capture the image I've had of Alariel in my head for 8 years. Enjoy! =)

Thanks. The outfit is actually taken from Marle from Chrono Trigger, and my friend added the armband and the circlet. The wakazashis are Alariel's chosen weapon of choice.

Well, to be fair, I created Alariel back in 1995, so I'd been waiting quite a while for someone to paint the image locked in my head onto paper =)

Alariel, would you mind posting your characters stats, her epic stats for 3rd edition?

I'd be happy to, just as soon as I figure out how best to convert her. She retired from 2nd edition as a 20th level kensai, so I'm having some difficulty deciding how best to convert her properly. Since she was retired with a bunch of other characters in my group, they're pulling theirs out as well, and we're going with 20th level 3rd edition, but one of them is a straight monk, and the other is a straight paladin.

I thought the best way would be to go with a 10/10 fighter/kensai, but Alariel was a Dex monkey with no armor, which definitely isn't portrayed in the Weapon Master prestige class. Currently, I'm starting to think more in the lines of the Tempest, since the focus is 2-weapon fighting and lightly armored defense.

About the only things I have so far are her stats, which includes the bonus ability points she gets up to 20th level (all added to Dexterity =):

Str 13, Dex 25, Con 15, Int 13, Wis 14, Chr 17

have you thought a level (or a few levels) in Duelist (Sword and Fist) for canny defense? (Int bonus to AC)

I did think about that, but Alariel uses twin wakazashis, and I don't want to modify any of the prestige classes (The Duelist is a rapier-based class). Plus, the Tempest has a better unarmored AC bonus for Alariel than the Duelist does (it maxes out at +6 with the Off-hand Parry). Otherwise she would have opted for some more INT. Before Bracers of Armor and other magical defenses she had, her AC will be a pleasant 23, 24 with Dodge. Add in Gloves of Dexterity +6, and a Ring of Spell Storing with Haste in it, and that goes up to 31.

Most of her items will simply be transfered over from 2nd edition, like her 2 wakazashis and a few custom knickknacks. The rest will be bought using the monies of a 20th level character, I believe.
