Hmm, I do quite a bit of modelling but I generally use HamaPatch and POV-RAY. Is Poser superior to those?
I really do not know having never worked with them, I would say not for modeling.

It's not a modeling program; as its name implies, it is a posing and lighting program.

So. . . how do you get a model to pose? Does it just come with some hardwired-in humanoid or whatever that you position?
It has some standard models, others can be imported. Posing is done by dials or if you are good dragging body part. You can also find tons of poses at different sights for the base characters.

You place your model into a scene, pose, select lighting, select camera and render. As Meloncov says, it is not a modeling program.

But I believe you can import poser models as objects into Bryce, can't you? I am having a blast with Bryce right now (just made a couple of mugs last night and they look sweet). If I can import a Poser figure I can have someone drinking from them!!!

I'm more excited than is strictly proper.

Suh-weet! I'm all registered, but unfortunately they've hit some kind of bandwidth limit and told me to wait several hours before trying again to download. :(
