Possibly two Villains in Spider-Man 3

He fell off the Statue of Liberty onto Magneto's boat, right? I'm not too familiar with Sabretooth's powers -- I know he's strong and has claws and fangs -- so maybe he survived it, I dunno. If he did, all I know is that he wasn't in the Brotherhood of (Evil) Mutants in X2.

As for Toad, I think it's safe to say he bit the dust. I mean, what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning, eh? ;)

Hardly. This is the Marvel Universe. It isn't safe to say he's dead unless you see his dead body (and we didn't get that for either Sabertooth or Toad), and even then death isnt' a sure thing.

If it is need true then we have an Ultimate Marvel universe once again stepping to the forefront....

Why do you say that? Sandman is right up there with the Vulture and Green Goblin, and Doc Ock as one of Spidey's original, classic foes.

And the first one without a cheesy costume.

Did I already mention that I'd love to see Sandman in his trademark shirt? ;)
I remember that when I was young (10-12 or so), I always wanted to own such a shirt...

I say that cause Harry Osborn took up the mantel as the Green Goblin in the original universe and wasn't the hobgoblin. (First one was never proven who it was the second hobgoblin was Roderick Kingsley a "professional criminal.")

Now in the Ultimate Universe Harry Osborn became the Hobgoblin… ;)

It's bben a while since I read X-men but IIRC Saberooth also has a healing factor like Wolverine. I think he even has the adimantium bonded to his bones as well.

Normally I'd be worried about a movie with two main villains (Batman and Robin),

Don't forget Batman Returns...

I was kinda hoping to see Venom, but... as a half-alien, he doesn't really meld with the "freak of science" theme the rest of the rogues gallery (and Spidey himself) have going.

Venom would be without a doubt the ultimate movie supervillain; simply put he is the ultimate combination of visual appeal and popularity.

I know I’m not a fan of the Ultimate line but his Ultimate origin is far more science freak than the original’s rather involved origin… ;)

Healing factor... Yes.

Adamantium bonded bones... yes and has had it done even more than once. (There is at least one other marvel villain with an Adamantium bonded skeleton ;) )

Ah, but visual appeal and popularity are not the only things required to be the true ultimate. For that, you also need a soul.

Which he has tons of... He’s far more of a Batman villain in that the reader can feel empathy for him/them than your typical Spider-Man villain who are mostly criminals simply to be criminals. ;)

The problem with the Venom is the ratio of good stories vs. bad stories. While guys like
Doc Ock and Green Goblin have a lot of bad stories featuring them they have all these
great stories featuring them in the past.

Venom has like... two.
