Poster ejection over thread closure request.

I understand some threads needing to be closed because of the nature of the OP itself. Though, on occasion a thread is fine with the exception of a few participants that will not listen to mods. Could the mods lean towards ejecting those folks instead of closing the otherwise fun/constructive/ameliorative thread?

We generally try to, and that's what happens 90% of the time, but sometimes it's a whole bunch of people shouting at each other, the thread is a train wreck, it's 3am our time, and we're using our phone and simply don't have the capacity to unpick who said what to whom.

So... yes, when we can! But we can't always.

Sad to see it go - if we're talking about the thread I started that got 1M views and 29,000 responses. It seemed like something that was needed on these boards. And just personally, it made me feel good when I saw it stay towards the top of the page for years - like I contributed something positive to the site.
Maybe the mods would be okay if we started another Off Topic thread with a fresh start?

I just saw what happened.

While I have been absent a lot recently, I am incredibly sad. I would rather see a threadban of posters than a closing of the thread. I don't question the decision, but it darkens my heart more than a million bards singing in perfect harmony does.
