Power Cards or Sheets?

Power cards or sheet?

I like the cards, but a lot of my fellow players prefer sheets. I was just finding way too many options that I was forgetting to use when I was using the sheets..

Now.. having said that, I've seen some cool options in this thread that I might try.

There could be something to the fact that the problem is the way the original sheet is laid out and the amount of space available. It hadn't occured to me to look at it that way.

All though- the cards are handy to remember what encounters and dailys have been used, and having the whole power written out does cut the number of times I look stuff up in the books significantly. That makes *my* part of combat run a lot faster. As a wizard with area effect attacks that require individual rolls, doing my turn efficiently has been important and a courtesy the rest of the group.

I tried using Shado's power sheet, and let me tell you, that one ain't Flaming Sphere-friendly.

By the same token, a sheet that gives enough space to fill in all the relevant stuff on Flaming Sphere, will be looking empty as heck when you put Magic Missile on it.
The sheet I created has room to put in Flaming Sphere (you'll have to abbreviate here and there, like "Sustain: Minor; Standard to Attack"). If you don't want to put Magic Missile in there, you can put it in the Character Sheet's space for Basic Attacks.

I think Wizards will always have difficulties as they need 2x or 3x the number of cards or slots on a sheet than anyone else. But I guess it is still better than the 3.5 cleric!

I have always used sheets. However, for my current character I am trying cards. I have only had this character for 1 session so far so I can't say how well it will ultimately work/ not work.
Though, based on my experiences from the one session, I am not sure I like having cards. I am more a visual person rather than tactile so I find myself flipping cards _all_ the time to re-read everything where as on a sheet I can just scan down.

If I were more "finger-fidgety" I guess I would like the cards more. But, having said all that, I will continue using the cards for at least 2-3 more sessions before I have a firm opinion about them as it's just a matter of getting used to it first before I can decide if I like it or not.

That's a real problem! My current cards are 3x5 index cards--cut into 3 separate cards. As soon as I can get the time to do the formatting, I'm going to use some print-your-own business cards (10/sheet) for this. But I suspect that every once in a while a power won't condense onto one card.

Looking in the PHB (and holding a business card over various powers) suggests that Weaponsoul Dance (p87) is the longest power I can find. And it's no more than 2 biz cards (not counting flavor text). I guess taping a second card on for a fold-out card would work. Admittedly, playing a Fighter I don't have too many oversize powers to worry about! :D

At first i liked the idea of Power Cards, and printed some for my players... but with time more and more material coming up it gets unbearable pretty fast.

For me (and my players) it's just easier to use a sheet for powers.

I'm currently using this one. I just print several blank copies of the "Other Powers" sheet, and it works pretty good for me.

We started with the cards but it soon became unmanageable with leveling up and more powers. So now we use sheets in a flip chart type arrangement (landscape A4); one page for at will, one for /enc etc.

Do you have formatted stat blocks or cards for the powers all on the one sheet? Or do you use a form and copy the info?

What I really want is a sheet of statblocks for the powers. The stat blocks out of the PHB would suffice, all on one or two sheets for quick reference.
