Gesalting

Its a new option in Unearthed Arcana (Great Book!) You take the best of each class and add them together in one class.

For example if you where to use two seventh level Characters:
A Monk/Druid:
No need for armor, very useful when in wild shape, can still cast spells, they both need wisdom and the monk abilities couldn't hurt.

and make your other a Gesalt Fighter/Barbarian Goliath with Monkeys grip and Improved Familiarity, as well as Weapon focus Goliath Greathammer, Weapon Specialisation: Goliath Greathammer, Power Attack, and Cleave: This way you get all the abilities of a Barbarian and the feats of a fighter, and the weapon deals 6d6 damage, and you only take a -4 penalty to attack If you make it a gargantuan weapon :]:] Smash 'dem goblinoids!!!

Uhm doesn't Gesalting suggest you only use that for like...one or two players? I mean I know some things are sick but that's just wrong...

Usually, everyone has to be gestalt, and that happens at the beginning of a campaign, so I don't think that's an option.

k how about this

A level 9 Char. Human Warmage8/Fighter 1 with a Dwarvenworked Mithral BattlePlate With the Eshew Materials, EWP: Fullbalde (make it huge, 4d8 dmg, -2 penalty, I think) EAP: Battleplate, Monkey Grip, and Dodge, next level take Combat casting and then take another fighter level afterwards to take mobility. Mithral Makes armor 1 size smaller (not to mention takes down the check penalty by twoplus the other two from the DWK which also increases the hardness and hitpoints of the armor, plus a max dex bonus of +5, +1 base, +2 Mithral, +2 Dwk) and Battleplate is heavy which makes it Medium, and with the Armored Mage: Medium ability offered at 8th level by the Warmage you can cast spells as if he was wearing no armor. Then with the Fullblade you have reach of 15ft (no penalty if the enemies get closer) so you can stave off those pesky foes trying to hurt you while you cast! Dont forget a Composite Longbow!

:]heh! IT'S CLEAVIN TIME!!!:]

............................................that any better:p

Wow! Step away to make dinner and when I come back, I've got a whole lot of great responses! Keep 'em coming.

So far, it looks like single class druid is the preferred build, but one 9th level is preferred to two 7th level more than two to one.

Are two levels that much better than two PCs, from a sheer power perspective?

Well for spell casters it makes a big difference. For druids specifically it gives you the large wildshape.

The 9th level druid is your most powerful choice. This is because at ninth level, you get your first 5th level spell and that means animal growth. Animal growthing your animal companion will result in a much better combat partner than just 2 7th level character. 9th level is also when you get flame strike and baleful polymorph. Which should make you a better blaster/nuke than the wizard as well as a better fighter than the fighter.

It's not just 2 levels of any class. It's 2 levels of druid.
