PPA: The Case of the Stoned Dude

With the Dean obviously in shock at the scream from within, Helena quickly stepped beside him, and gently, but firmly, moved him away from the door (and hopefully from harms way...).

'Good sir, I suggest you call the College guard' she said purposefully. Putting a reassuring hand on his arm, she ushered the Dean away from the door. If he had his wits about him, he would do as she had asked, if not, then at least he should be out of immediate danger. A danger as yet unknown, but one which Helena and her companions would attempt to deal with.

She watched with admiration as the halfling immediately made to enter the room, heedless of his own safety. With a look to Gerard and Posh, she met their eyes, and with a muttered 'be safe', she followed Airard's lead.

Posh allows himself to revert back into his more natural form, and scurrys after the others. His short legs make him more than slightly slow to react.

Locked, the door failed to yield at first attempt. Shouldering the door was surprisingly easy. As with most of the buildings here, there was little need for security and more desire for artistry allowing the heavily carved door to splinter and give way. The Dean groaned and griped, though his words fell on deaf ears. He'd already been lead away even as the flimsy door was sundered.

Airard was a pace or two into the dusty apartment. It was a simple abode, divided between a region for studying and another for sleeping. Atop the bed, some half-dozen strides away from the door, the sheets were thrashing. Arms flailed and the terrified face of a wizened man could be seen amidst a crimson spray. He cried out pitifully, incoherent and pain-filled. Posh was right behind Airard, with Helena and Gerard scant steps behind on the porch. A voice, high-pitched and acerbic, cut through the bemoaning Loremaestro. "Where is it!" Whomever or whatever spoke, gave no time for the Loremaestro to respond beyond yelps of pain.

Helena will follow actions as described in my previous post (above).

Perception check to scan the room:

1d20+14=27

If she can't actually spot anything physically attacking the Loremaestro, she will attempt to determine in there is an evil presence in the room, and if so notify the others of its location.

OOC: Airard's player is on holiday - back on Tuesday I think

Maidhc O Casain

Na Bith Mo Riocht Tá!
OOC: If I understand correctly, there's something under the sheets with him? Assuming this is correct:

IC:

Airard moves decisively into the room and grasps a corner of the sheet in one hand, ripping it away from the writhing Loremaestro to reveal . . .

[sblock=OOC]That should be a move action; standard action will depend on what's revealed.[/sblock]

Helena had successfully steered the Dean away from the building, though he looked bewildered in the extreme. He stammered about not having any Guards on the premises and it was the tout that was actually now tending to the aged man. Helena returned her attention to the apartment as Airard and Gerard delved further in. Meanwhile, Posh stood off to the side, keeping alert for anything else amiss beyond the room itself.

For the briefest of moments before Airard took direct action, the form of some tiny humanoid could be seen against the outline of bedsheets. There was only mild surprise that the unveiling of the sheets failed to reveal the source of the attacker. Thin shreds of skin peeled away from the flailing Loremaestro to reveal lines of blood. Whatever was assailing the poor ailing man was quite invisible. Gerard's prayer to shield the wounded man was immediately successful. The moment the spell took effect on the Loremaestro, the creatures' claws no longer flensed the flesh.

"I have no way of revealing that which is hidden! Any one here can do that!?!"

Calvin is not happy to see what the sheet showed.

Move action: draw mace,
Standard action: use mace on invisble creature
[sblock= note on invisibility]
Invisible creatures are visually undetectable. An invisible creature gains a +2 bonus on attack rolls against sighted opponents, and ignores its opponents' Dexterity bonuses to AC (if any). See Invisibility, under Special Abilities.[/sblock]

Posh shakes his head, he knew he should of prepared his anti-invisibility spells... "Please Angel of Light, combat this evil."[color] Posh's words summons a Archon who appears to actively seek out the invisible evil.

[sblock=ooc]

Posh cast Major Image hoping to.. spook it or reveal it's true location. DC 19
vs Will. He will concentrate on keeping the Archon hunting, unless the creature shows where it is, in which case he will have the Archon appear to attack it. [/sblock]
