I signed on with them last year, then dropped out after I signed my "African Adventures" contract with Atlas.

Last I checked they didn't have a website. They also didn't plan on publishing anything until this year - I wasn't too crazy about putting in a lot of work on projects and not getting paid for a year. They seemed a bit disorganized at the time - don't know what shape they are in now.

p.s. I just checked www.darkfaerieproductions.com - its registered but they don't have anything posted.

No offense to the company meant...

...but they sure are asking for the moon and the stars here. My little red flags are up. It's tough to get into any single ONE of these businesses, but to do all at once is either naive, or something else.

Given the propensity for 'big announcements from little companies' in the last year or so (vis-a-vis d20), and the rapidity with which said 'companies' dissipate seemingly over night, I'd chalk it up to them being naive.

Nothing screams vaporware like a bunch of college students jumping on the d20 band-wagon with lots of impressive sounding PR :)

I'm not sure, but when I first signed with this company they were Mercenary Games.. I wrote some assignments for Merc and they went through a re-organization of some sort.. after that they became Dark Faerie.. Chad is a nice enough guy but I think he's taking on too much.

I decided after not hearing about the status of my prior submissions to sit back and wait.. it seems things have not gotten more organized unfortunately..

The winnowing of small companies is happening, and until I see something from DFP that shows they have things together I wouldn't risk writing anything I intended to publish with them.. they don't have a track record, and at the time seemed to be 'winging it'.

No offense to Chad or anyone else involved.

That is a suspiciously large amount of positions that they are looking for. And I'm not seeing what Layout editors and web designers have to do with animators....

No offense to those involved, it just looks like something that could 'not happen'.

Good Company

I would have to disagree with all of you. I have a friend who works with them. I think their main issue happens to be with people who agree to join the writers and never produce. Or those who just disappear without having the power to stick it out.

In an event, if you have free time and like to write, then it could not hurt to take a chance. You do not lose anything by writing for them. As Monte says, "Ideas are free and they are always around." Personally, I think I send in a resume. I have free time, enjoy writing and maybe I will get my name in print.

Besides, I already know that I will be spending money on Dark Faerie Products. The material that I have heard they are producing rocks. I just hope they give discounts to employees.

hmm I must admit, I haven't heard of them before, not heard of anything they produces etc, to me it looks like the guy is looking for the entire staff! more or less, while I don't seem why people are overly negative, I can understand why someone would be ratehr conservative when it is that much they look for. Especially considering how many D20 companies there are already, not easy to get known me think.

I can understand being conservative, but I know that they are not hiring the entire staff. From what I have heard, they already have a few things near to completion and ready for playtesting.

After all, they are asking for playtesters as well, so that implies that they have a product or products that they want to see playtested. This implies that they have a staff.
