PrC and multiclass penalties?

This has been asked before... There just hasn't been a definite answer (i.e. errata), AFAIK.

So, the 3.5 books do not anymore list, that PrC do not count for multiclassing purposes when determining, whether there is a XP penalty.

Is this actually meant this way, or was it just a mistake and has been errataed (or FAQed ) in the meantime?

It's a mistake; I'm unsure wether or not that has made it's way into the FAQ/Errata. However, think about it .. who would EVER pay a 20% XP penalty, just to take anything but the most broken prestige classes ...?!?

We actually play it like this currently and I'm not sure yet, if I like it or not!

It gives the favored classes a whole new meaning, tho.
