Just wanted to see what ppl thought of this prestige class. I orginally made it for arcane casters but a divine caster could use it with some tweaking. This class concentrates on Feats that pertain to spellcasters but at a cost to your spell casting ability.

The saves, HD, and BAB are the same as the wizards as are the skills (i will probably come up with somethign more specific to this class).
prereqs are: Knowledge arcane 8 ranks, have three metamagic feats or feats related to spellcasting (but not item creation), ability to cast 3rd level spells.

Level Class ability
1 +1 Spellcaster level
Reduce metamagic cost -1
Bonus Feat

2 Bonus Feat
3 +1 Spellcaster
4 Bonus Feat
5 +1 Spellcaster
Reduce metamagic cost -2
6 Bonus Feat
7 +1 Spellcaster
8 Bonus Feat
9 +1 Spellcaster
10 Bonus Feat, Reduce metamagic cost -3

Reduce Metamagic cost: you may subtract the number listed from the from the spell slot increase that a metamagic feat instills on the caster. The cost cannot be reduced below 1. This ability does not affect the Heighten metamagic feat directly but can reduce the cost of any metamagic feat placed upon the heighten spell.

Bonus feats are restricted to metamagic or any other feat that is directly related to spellcasting but not item creation feats.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this class.

Should be in House Rules by the way...

At 15th level (Wiz 5/this 10), you would be casting as a 9th level Wizard (5th level spells), and have upwards of 7 meta feats, all reduced in cost by 3 to a minimum of +1.

Are you trying to mimic the Incantatrix PrC?

YMMV

I like it... seems kind of strong, but I like it...
Let's see... a Wiz 10/new PrC 10 would be able to cast no level 9 spells and only one level 8 spell. However, it would be able to quicken a level 7 spell and a few level 6 spells.

Quickening those spells would be very powerful (a bit too powerful IMHO), and if I were to use the PrC I would let them reduce metamagic cost to -1 at level 3 and reduce the metamagic cost to -2 at level 9 or 10.

I don't like the fact that it doesn't really help with silent/still/etc spells.

Perhaps the mechanic could be that you add all the modifiers, and then reduce them... no lower than +1 total.

That is how the mechanic is supposed to work...re-reading the posting I didn't make that clear. You would add up all of the metamagic costs then subtract the class ability.

I have thought about doing that and may still do it because we are still playing around with the class. Thanks for the comments everyone!
