Pre-Gen Con WotC Press Conference

Over at Harley Stroh's blog, he writes:

I was just told by a friend tonight that Wizards is calling an invite only press conference the night before the start of GenCon.

What could they possibly have to announce? >;)

But regardless of the press conference outcome, it will be all everyone is talking about the next morning. If you've got a big announcement prepped for Indy, prepare to upstaged, Wed. night.

Could this mean the end for all our d20 writing careers? Nah. If R. Talsorian taught us anything, it was always to keep a holdout somewhere. Might as well meet the future head on.

Just thought I'd share what I found and if this has been posted already, forgive me.

We have heard a lot about the new Digitial Initative for the e-versions of Dungeons and Dragons. They have been accepting submissions. Dragon and Dungeon are a hair's bredth away from their final print issues. Nothing definative has been said yet about when its all going to happen.

It seems more likely that they will have a release date and price plan along with a preview of the new online content.

I don't think that a 4E announcement would be an invitation-only affair. The 3E announcement was a huge deal, IIRC (remember the t-shirts with the Pit Fiend?).

I think the Digital Initiative is a better bet.

Not that I'm betting either way. :)

They will announce that their releases will switch to a mainly electronic format mayhaps with a print on demand feature. :p
