Precautions in binding a succubus

I believe this was recently revised back to the good old way in Fiendish Codex I.

Only slightly. The section on demonic death just gives flavor text on demons who die outside of the Abyss returning there and either starting at the bottom of the demonic hierarchy, or are only demoted somewhat. It doesn't have any hard and fast statistics, or say if they keep their memories, or anything. The sidebar on demonic death throes is cool though.

Yup. They could use the ready action to interrupt her greater teleport SLA.

Grappling her would also require her to make a Concentration check for the SLA, same as a spell. And it would open someone up to a level-draining touch attack. Still, it might be worth it. :p

Depending on how easy it is for you to buy magic items, you might want to look into some dimensional shackles, which are manacles with a dimensional anchor effect. They're pricey, but would be exactly what you need for a long capture. Someone might even be able to put the shackles on when she's still inside the circle, depending on the DM's call (sounds like a Balance check to me).

Whatever you do, my advice would that you NOT do it at your father's farm, or any other safe haven you have, or anywhere that you can be easily located. In situations like this, you have to plan for the worst- ie, that she will get away and inform the queen. And you don't want them coming after your family to find you guys.

The best place would be in the city or near the hideout of a mutal enemy- say, if there's a kingdom that is traditionally a rival of the queen's. Then she can assume they're helping you, and hopefully hurt her resources going after you, even though you've since moved on. In fact, if you do this, it might be useful to let the succubus escape, without being too obvious about it of course.

Not really an option unfortunatly...

Tempting... Doing it on the material plane would be the best option, but as she'd also be on the material plane- the binding of her would become impossible. We don't have many other places to go... but I guess we could just find a floating rock somewhere on the elemental plane of air...

Thanks for the ideas.

Alright, the long and short of it is the queen of the land who we were wokring for turned out to be a prophet* of the evil gods- who ended up betraying us, killed our prophet*, gave the invading orcish army a secret way into the city, slaughtered our ranger, and :) :) :) :) ing ate my familiar Nivee- an albino hawk of the noblest origins.

This made my day! Of all the horrible things the queen did, and all the lives cost and property damage to the city and suffering... I'd be willing to bet (and would have loved to have seen the look on your face) that your character was most angered at the death of his/her familiar. :P

Sounds like an awesome game.

You have NO idea... she didn't even die honorably, she was eaten!!!!

I was so going to lead the group back into the city to recover the familiar's body too... and I suppose the cleric and ranger if we happened to see em... But the cleric got burned, the ranger ripped apart, and poor Nivee got eaten...

I swear by the Gods the queen will pay for this...

Man, I thought this thread would be about how to tie one down to the bed... :D

I hope he just remembers to put the pole in the center of the summoning pentagram.

And arms himself with a bunch of scrolls of Otto's irresistable dance.
