GUARDIANS OF ORDER TO PUBLISH SLAYERS AND UTENA ANIME FAN GUIDES

Guardians Of Order, Inc., in association with Enoki Films USA, Inc., announced today that it will publish reference and role-playing books for the Slayers and Revolutionary Girl Utena anime series under its Ultimate Fan Guide line starting in spring 2003. Additionally, Guardians Of Order will release a Slayers d20 System role-playing game in summer 2003.

Both Slayers and Utena are exceptionally popular anime series that have garnered much critical acclaim from anime and role-playing fans everywhere. Slayers is a 78-episode fantasy series that follows the exploits of the beautiful teenage sorceress-supreme, Lina Inverse, and her mighty band of spell-casting, sword-wielding adventurers. Utena's 39 episodes detail the spiritual journey of high school student Utena Tenjo on her quest to find the mysterious boy she met when she was only six years old.

"Both of these series are excellent additions to our Ultimate Fan Guide line," said Guardians Of Order President, Mark C. MacKinnon, "and we are thrilled to be working with Enoki in this venture. Both Slayers and Utena will be explored in three Guides each, featuring episode summaries, character profiles, setting and theme analysis, RPG information, and hundreds of full-colour images. We will also release the entire Slayers series as a colour hardcover d20 System role-playing game book that will make an ideal addition to any fantasy RPG campaign. With these two great shows adding to our publication schedule, 2003 will be an even better year for our company and our fans."

"We are pleased to work with Guardians Of Order to create these products," added Enoki Films USA President, Yoshi Enoki. "Both Slayers and Utena enjoy great support from their fans, and here's to the fans!!"

I'm sort of afraid to see what my gaming life will be like after that release. I imagine somewhere around 40 of the episodes of Slayers gets played every month at my house. The theme song of Slayers is playing in my head because my wife loves it that much.

Slayers is a great choice, since it's very D&Desque as it is. Actually, it'd be more of a campaign setting than anything. Hopefully they make it compatable with D&D rather than adding all kinds of new mechanics.

If it goes well (I'll buy it!) I hope they try other anime, such as Ranma. I'd LOVE to have a nice hardcover book with all of the Ranma moves and abilities.... <drool>

Yeah, I told 'em...

Heh, the reason Slayers is D&D-esque is because it started as a comic in the Japanese Dragon magazine, or so I've read. I sent WotC an email 2 years ago telling them they should have made a Slayers book.

But I guess now I'll have to get G.O.O.'s version. I'm glad G.O.O. is doing it since I haven't bought any of their books since BESM 2nd edition(non revised) and the Tenchi books. Considering what huge Slayers Otaku we are, the Slayers book will probably get more use than any of the other G.O.O. books, though!

My only dissapointment is that I'm the DM and won't get to play Gourry. Ah well, I suppose playing Rezo(and Copy Rezo and Shabranigdo and the Devil Dragon King and Xellos and Hellmaster Fibrizzo and Michigan J. Joyrock and all the other villains who have such great names) is good enough.

I can't wait to see the stats on the Giga-Slave or that other one...the Black Sword spell? Not to mention having the chance to unleash Shabranigdo(sp) on my players...

(Hell, just unleasing Lina Inverse on my players would be bad enough...)

(Come to think of it, my PC in Sailor Moon was heavily influenced by Amelia.)

This book will rock.

Yeeaahah!!

Stats for Naga! I love it!! Gives me ideas for a "ring of Naga control" Heh heh heh...

Naga WILL be in there, right? Hmm? Hmm?

BTW, the Japanese "Dragon" magazine is a fantasy story and comics magazine and is no relation to our "Dragon" magazine, other than the frequent copping of ideas from one another.

Perhaps currently, but IIRC slayer has been published in the japanese version of the D&D dragon magazine.

Perhaps the japanese version has suffered from the same fate that the french version suffered? (i.e. it is now a fantasy stories magazine).

to GoO, do you plan to use the ELH in order to give stats to some character? or to extend the level cap?

So, will this be a D20 treatment that can easily be used with other D&D and D20 products from other publishers, or is it going to be closer to the d20 version of SAS?
