Prestige Class -- Multi-classing?

Sure, it's in the right place in the DMG, but it's not in the PH at all. Hell, the rules regarding multiclassing are even in the PH at the end of the Classes section, but it's never mentioned. Although, in their defense, the PH doesn't include Prestige Classes, so technically, that info isn't necessary, even though WotC obviously intended players to take prestige classes. After all, that means more money. :)
Actually, it is there to provide as an option for the DM. The prestige classes are there for DM to make them campaign-specific, despite their generic nature (DM can always tweak it to suit the flavor of his campaign, though).

IMHO, prestige classes should be optional and at the discretion of the DM, despite their tempting flavors and the flood of these classes since 3e was introduced two years ago.

(Unlike 3e, d20 Modern is making prestige class as part of the standard rules and encourage taking them at an early development like 3rd or 4th character level.)

I know. I wasn't disputing that. I know why prestige classes exhist and I understand their overall purpose in the game, yada, yada, yada, so a detailed lecture about them, their spiritual impact upon the game as a whole, the deep and one true meaning of their existence, and how they are but one of the many shining pinnacles of DM tools, isn't necessary. :)

I just think it's funny that it wasn't in the PH. But like I already said, there weren't any PrC's in the PH anyway.
