Price a +4 con, +2 str, +2 dex belt

People have the amulet of Con on the brane. I don't know why.

Well, the Belt of Dwarvenkind's primary benefit is a con boost, but I guess it's just easier to ignore minor inconsistencies like that. :)

I would also say belt is a perfect affinity for con. However, I do not understand why the OP would want the item in question. Each add-on costs 1.5x as much! I guess for a monk, since con, wisdom, and amulet of mighty fists all take up the same slot. I also don't see why a monk couldn't get a robe of mighty fists, though, as his entire body is a weapon.

He already explained this. They aren't crafting the item. It is an existing artifact, and they are looking for a approximate price so that they can split treasure fairly in the group.

Reading is FUN-damental.

b/c dangling from your codpiece won't give you the benefits.

diseases, poisons, and some monsters drain Con. people are trying to overcompensate for perceived threats.

Count me among those who would rate Con as having affinity for a belt.

Also 4000 * 2 would be the same cost by formula as a slotless version. A slotless item is more valuable than this enhancement, so I would say this does not make sense. Furthermore, "improve all physical stats" is arguably a physical transformation. (I might feel differently about applying this philosophy if a mental stat were snuck in there.)

16k + 1.5 * 4k + 1.5 * 4k = 28,000 gp. This is roughly half way between a simple +4 item and a simple +6 item. I think that is close to correct.

Agreed. I didn't read the actual affinity rules when I wrote that. ;)

Course, I've always felt there should be pros and cons. For example, Monks have to decide between the Amulet of Health and the Amulet of Mighty Fists. When items are combined, those game choices go away.

Monks have to decide between the amulet of health, amulet of mighty fists, amulet of natural armor, periapt of wisdom, and all of the other choices for the neck slot.

They are already hosed by the rules. I do not think that there is a good reason for that.

The Golembane scarab is also highly useful for monks (below level 16).

Just any that might be useful? :)
Oh absolutely. I triple the cost of any magic item that a PC might find useful, and halve the cost to any NPC.

...but surely that sort of thing is common-place knowledge in DMing circles.... :D

I am more used to, "The magical items that the bad dude just used to smack you around hard core magically dissapear, he does still have a few gold on him though and maybe a gem."

Agreed.

There are enough slots that imposing non-affinity penalties is reasonable.

It is not as if you cannot have more items than slots, keeping certain items handy for that weird enemy/situation. Just limits what numbers and combinations are available at the same time.

nah, that's the kind the DM makes "regalia". ergo it is attuned to the bad d00d and when he is dead it becomes worthless. for examples of this find a copy of Banewarrens by Monte Cook.
