Printer Help

Drivers didn't help...

Hmm. I tried printing a test page after that and got the "Problem communicating with the printer" message. I think that the problem is that the computer is looking to find the printer at the old port and not the USB. Big problem is...how do I TELL it to look at the USB?

I've tried "Add Port" and there is a thing called "usbmon" but I can't select it. I can't find anything that would let me add the USB connection...argh.

The problem with Windows ME is that if you remove hardware from the computer, it's still there. The source of your problem is most certainly your operating system. WinME is known to cause all sorts of hardware related trouble.

The tricky thing is to solve this without a reinstill. :)

1. If you have a VIA chipset based motherboard, are you running the latest 4-in-1 drivers? if not you casn get them here .

2. Is usb support enabled in BIOS?

3. try booting into safe mode, go to system->hardware in control panel and remove any references to your printer and you may want to get rid of the usb ports and let windows redetect.

4. as silly as it sounds, did you read the instructions carefully? Sometimes skipping over a step or doing somthing out of order will cause problems, I've run into this with HP printers.

Good Luck!
