Prismatic Sphere

Got a question to that spell.
If a wizard cast that spell and in his radius are some of the enemies so that they are inside the sphere.
The Wizard is free on his own to leave the sphere.
What woud that mean for his opponents?
Are they trapped inside until the end of the spell?

Would there be a way to leave the sphere without having to remove the individual lairs of protection?

Any advice welcome.

They're trapped, yes. But they can always run out and risk the saving throws. Or they can teleport out.

Prismatic Sphere
Abjuration
Level: Protection 9, Sor/Wiz 9, Sun 9
Components: V
Range: 10 ft.
Effect: 10-ft.-radius sphere centered on you
This spell functions like prismatic wall, except you conjure up an immobile, opaque globe of shimmering, multicolored light that surrounds you and protects you from all forms of attack. The sphere flashes in all colors of the visible spectrum.
The sphere’s blindness effect on creatures with less than 8 HD lasts 2d4x10 minutes.
You can pass into and out of the prismatic sphere and remain near it without harm. However, when you’re inside it, the sphere blocks any attempt to project something through the sphere (including spells). Other creatures that attempt to attack you or pass through suffer the effects of each color, one at a time.
Typically, only the upper hemisphere of the globe will exist, since you are at the center of the sphere, so the lower half is usually excluded by the floor surface you are standing on.
The colors of the sphere have the same effects as the colors of a prismatic wall.
Prismatic sphere can be made permanent with a permanency spell.

I am not sure if they can teleport out since they are not the caster of the spell.
Since one of the spheres blocks all Spells it would block Telepot or i am wrong?

Can someone give me an advice on this?

Thanks

The sphere blocks line of effect for spells - but teleport doesn't require line of effect (pretty much by definition) so you could teleport in or out

That can't be correct, can it?

We've always let a non-spellcaster exit a PS with no problem, but they'd be unable to reenter it. I suspect that's a holdover from 1e, rather than rules as currently written.

pre-3e (I've not had them used in 3e yet), we always assumed that prismatic walls had a 'wall of force' effect, so that you couldn't even walk through them unless you were the caster!

I've not seen the idea that they block teleports a la dimension lock, but I've got no problem if someone cares to educate me!

I doubt we'll get anyone casting one before 4e appears anyway ;)

Ah, I remember the last thread on prismatic sphere. It boiled down to a bunch of people arguing about whether or not they conceptually understood how movement in other planes worked and how going between two points without going through any point in between worked. :p

Bottom line, it depends on how literal you are in your interpretation of "blocks all spells."

Ok one Question.

Normaly if one can cast this spell he is up against Outsiders with teleport at will.
What is a 9 level spell good for if the Outsider just can teleport in ??
