I bought this book at GenCon... I really like it!

It is probably the best non-WoTC monster book out there right now. The creatures all make sense (in their sometimes wierd way), and they aren't joke-y at all (not a flumph in the bunch - not even the alchoholic cask imp!).

Two things I especially liked: Lore info ranging from common knowledge to obscure giving info that players would love to have; and adventure hooks for each creature, giving examples of possible adventures involving the creatures.

Many of the creatures have a construct/steampunkish/mechanical theme, so if that is a drawback to you, it might temper your enthusiams for the product. Personally, I liked it, and don't think that it would provide too much of a barrier for the typical campaign.

Can you give us some indepth reviews or an example of some of the beasties? I'm going to buy this the day it arrives but I have a feeling that won't be for a while. For some reason, PPress stuff seems to arrive late at my local shop.

I'm glad you like the book... took a bit longer than we thought, but in the end I think that the call to take a different direction than the MM was a great call... I had a lot of fun debating and hammering out these bad boys...

I am kinda jealous that you got a copy before me... but thems the breaks... ;-)
