Problem Rules - Help me out with this list of debatable rules.

After Caliban's explanation, I don't think there is anything to debate. Well, there is the possibility that the combination of Haste and Time Stop renders you immortal for all time, as well as granting you automatic Mind Blank. I don't know. Maybe I'm reading into this too much. Nah.

These are the answer that make sense too me or have been debated on the board:

1 Buckler with two hand weapon OK... no AC attacking and no penalty.

4 No shield for monks...

6 Haste I go for the only one 5 foot step .. its already a great spell without this kind of bonus.

9 Expeditious only land based move... my call...

10 Unarmed threatened areas... this one is hard... after all a AOO can be a trip attack... trip dont need weapons necessarily.

11 Gauntlets are armor... gloves arent

12 No Barbarian DR bypassing...

13 Bless weapon can hit any evil creature... no matter the DR

17 Counts as weapon... if a Monk can do d12 damage in combat why cant he do coup de grace... ?!

(Overall I will consider any answers Caliban gives as semi-official... :)

Yes...this thread sure, but it sounded like Ruleslawyer wanted you to do a thread for EACH issue

No, I meant exactly what Artoomis later said. A single thread where each debatable rules issue was listed, along with the prominent interpretations of that rule and sources for those interpretations. We have all of this information on these threads already; I'm just talking about consolidating it in order to eliminate noise.

Maybe it can be thumbtacked to the top of the forum? :)

That's a good idea. Maybe if we really get something reasonable done we can do that - I'll check with Morris, et.al. if we are able to get a reasonable list put together - and I 'm hopeful, it's ooking pretty good so far.

Here's the way I think Time Stop interacts with Haste:

Hast grants an extra partial action either before or after your normal action.

Time Stop grants 1d4+1 "apparent" rounds of action during your normal action.

Therefore Haste doesn't grant any extra partial actions during the Time Stop, it just grants one extra partial action before or after the action you used to cast the Time Stop.

I had thought of that while I was driving home from work, and I agree. But what happens if they cast Haste during Time Stop? I assume it has no immediate effect, then a partial action kicks in as soon as Time Stop ends, but I wasn't sure.

-Heighten Spell- Do you get the benefit of levels from other MM feats?

-Spring Attack- the rediculous ruling that it completely negates AoO from moving thru your targets threatened area.

Has this issue been debated? I thought Spring Attack was pretty clear. Then again, if there's one thing I've learned on these boards, it's that nothing is as clear as I think it is. :D

Why not compile as many as you think are worthwhile (also debatable? :D ) put them all in one shiny new post, and include a link to a thread where a debate for each point of contention is raging? This way the debates won't be taken place in the list thread that is thumbtacked to the top, and the debates on each issue will only take up one thread (or more if the post count limit for a thread demands a thread be closed and started anew). The top (thumbtacked) thread will only get new posts if a new topic needs to be added to the list. *shrug*

I've got one (& I know it has been debated way back on Eric's boards):

Can you use a "non-trip" weapon to initiate a trip attack?

"Trip weapons" generally say specifically that you may drop them to avoid a counter-trip or you receive some other specific bonus, does this mean you can use a non-trip weapon with all your normal bonuses (to make the initial melee touch attack/without getting any special trip bonuses or being able to avoid the counter-trip by dropping your weapon)?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned.
