Problems with black primer.

How come everytime I try to use black primer spray, Armory or Citadel, that I end up with fuzzy primer? I primed a Demogorgon figure, the first attempt failed due to humidity making the paint clump. Then I stripped the figure with Simple Green and redid it. Most came out fine, but the base, tentacles, feet, and tail came out fuzzy so it's sitting in anoter bath of SG to get the paint off.

I just never seem to have this issue with white primer. Is there extra pigment in there that is more suseptable to humidity or something? I used a can of Citadel Black a few years ago and had this same issue, so I havent' used black until I saw how cheap the Armory primers were compared to Citadel so I grabbed another can and primed some figs...only to end up stripping them! Doh!

It could be the age of the primer. The fuzz is actually pigment particles. I have had this problem with Armory primer in several colors, usually because the cans were on the shelf for too long. It also could be caused if you are holding the can too far from the mini, and the pigment clumps together before it hits the model. But my first guess is the primer sat on the shelf too long before you bought it.

A clogged nozzle can also cause this. Often hapens when game store employees take a can home, use 10% of the can, and put it back on shelf.

Unfortunatly that can is bad and suitable only for terrain and figs you want to prime as statues[dust white primer over grainy black]. And if the fig was a plastic one, stripping it may not help much.

Try automotive brand primers, just about the same results, lot cheaper

It can happen there too, I use equipment grey primer, and a recent project had the same problem. Admittedly, it happens a lot less often than with some of the name brands.
